What is he doing these days?

Was there a promoter that he enjoyed working for more than others? And maybe one he swore he would never work for again?

I only saw him (through the magic of video) in the IWA bit thought he great there. Did he ever work for Vince McMahon Sr ?

Screw Dusty and James, we got Hartford!:)

My question for Hartford is, does is still watch today's wrestling and if so what does he think of it? Also who are some of his favorite wrestlers of the last ten years?
Thanks.

Hey..Glad to see there are fans out there who still remember the good old days of wrestling!!!....He is now living in Newfoundland...He moved there in the early eighties to be near his parents and to see if he could make his name in the business down there...He worked for George Cannon while in Newfoundland and to be honest I really have no idea if he liked many of the promoters but I was with him in Newfoundland and we travelled with George and the gang and he really seemed to enjoy it more then he did any other time in his carreer...He did work for Vince McMahon Sr. in the late sixties when his name was Wes Hutchings....He stopped wrestling altogether in the late eighties and bought a bar outside Spaniards Bay....He now has his own taxi business but it is sad because I see the sparkle in his eyes when he looks back on his wrestling days!!!

Hi....No........ my father to my knowledge does not watch the new stuff anymore....He does not like what Vince McMahon Jr. has done to the business....As far as liking any wrestlers in the past 10 years....Hmmmmmm....that is a tough one cause I know all the wrestlers that he loved to hang out with when he was in his prime...like Eric The Red...his partner Reginald...Beautiful Bruce Swayze...The Shiek...He helped train Angelo Mosca who was a good friend in Georgia along with Ric Flair who was also a good friend......Many more but my memory is failing me at this time....Will write more when I remember them....Jo

I recall watching Hartford Love tangle with Sailor White a couple times in my early childhood. Still living in Newfoundland to this day in fact. Fond memories indeed watching those shows. Any memories to share about the Sailor and Bearman McKigney?

The Love Brothers were also considered a truly great heel tandem too in their day....really really riled folks up. Was it odd for your Dad to move from hated heel to beloved hero back in Newfoundland?

Hey JaseSF.

JoAnn is very busy at work right now and usually answers most things on weekends.  She said as soon as she gets a few extra minutes she will answer you.  Thanks for your patience.

Question - is ANYONE running Newfie right now?  Any Indies?

There was a short extreme type fed that ran in the late 90s early 2000s featuring some of Sailor White's trainees which ran mostly in St. John's I believe . Don't think there's been much in the province since then.

Hey....I never realy got to see alot of the stuff that went on in my father's career until I got to live with him after he divorced my mother in the late seventies...All of us kids were kept in the dark about his lifestyle....I never got to really see what wrestling meant to him until I was in Kansas City in the late seventies....Then we moved to Newfoundland in 1980 and I saw firsthand the good and the bad....I was just a teenager when I got to travel all over the island when he changed his bad guy image to good and he loved it!!!....It made his mother happy to see him go good because she hated the fact he was soooo well hated as a heel....LOL...He even had a van in those days that read NEWFIE POWER on the side and we would get honked at all of the time as we passed from one small town to the next...To be honest..Even when he was a heel  whenever we went out as a family he would always have fans coming over to him asking for an autograph....As far a s Sailor White is concerned I remember meeting him when I lived in Newfoundland...He would wrestle once in awhile with my Dad and I remember he owned a bar in St.Johns at the time...They got along great and I really was fond of him as a person...Next time I speak to my father I will ask him more about him...He has many stories about his wrestling days...Most of which are jokes the wrestlers would play on each other on the road!!!!...I just got some DVD's Chris got from a man who said he had some of my father wrestling in the IWA back in 1975 and let me tell you was I ever happy to see them...Brought back alot of memories from the past and to see him and John together again was sweet!!!!

I don't have the link anymore, but I recall an interview on SLAM! (I believe) with Milt Avruskin where Milt is asked the best feud(s) he ever seen with an organization he was affiliated with.

For George Cannons' 'Superstars of Wrestling', which had a LONG run with Milt commentating with George, Milt said the best he saw was Sailor White vs. Hartford Love.   A long string of guys passed through that promotion during that time, so this was a nice compliment.

Keep in mind too, when Hartford was a 'Love Brother', he kind of played 'second fiddle' to Reggie.  Once he was on his own, he really had a great run and whether on top of the card or jerking the curtain - he had a solid career that lasted LONG after the 'Love Brothers' gimmick was gone.

I am still searching for footage of the Hartford Love over Carlos Colon for the (WWC) North America's Title; then Wes dropping it to Gorilla Monsoon a few months later.  I have searched for clips, programs, pics, anything from this area - even trying Puerto Rican sources, and can't find anything.  Also searching for Hartford in Kansas City and Cannons' Superstars - expecially him vs. Sailor.  If I ever find anything JaseSF - I will pass it on.
