Mainly American & Canadian wrestlers, although international wrestlers who competed at least a moderate amount of time in the United States are eligible. Competing in the Pittsburgh region prior to 1975 does not count as having wrestled in the WWWF. Obviously wrestlers whose careers were over before the WWWf existed don't qualify and won't be listed. Gorgeous George, among others, doesn't qualify for that reason. Wrestlers whose careers ended shortly after the WWF began also don't qualify. Riikidozan passed away in December 1963, and won't be listed. Neither will former NWA Heavyweight Champion Dick Hutton, and Sandor Szabo, Enrique Torres and Ben & Mike Sharpe Sr, among others. Wrestling a single match in the WW(W)F/WWE counts as having competed in the WW(W)F/WWE. Wrestling on a card that featured an out of area WW(W)F title match or a joint card in an WW(W)F doesn't count. The following appeared on a Legend's Battle Royal in 1987 and don't qualify for inclusion: Lou Thesz Nick Bockwinkle Pat O'Connnor The following wrestled at least one match in the WW(W)F/WWE and don't qualify: Antonino Rocca-may have wrestled a match on a card in West New York,N.J. in June 1976. Cool list Whipper Watson could be in the category of 'career over' as he was 48 and semi mobile in 1963 , he barely left Toronto during the formative WWWF years Lord Layton is another similar to Whipper, don't think he ever worked MSG or WWWF territory but again career winding down in the late 60's Sure about Fritz Von Erich ? thinking I have seen some results for him spilling over from Cleveland

Re: Fritz Sometimes it's really tough to tell what is CWC and what is Buffalo/Cleveland. I think Rob is right. Fritz wrestled in Buffalo and Cleveland. I don't recall seeing any listings for Fritz in Washington DC, MSG or other CWC cities. But there are a ton of listings I have not seen.

Robert Fuller wrestled on a Madison Square Garden card on April 29, 1974, that's why he was listed with the other wrestlers who had at least one WWWF/WWF/WWE match: WWWF @ New York City, NY - Madison Square Garden - April 29, 1974 Televised on HBO - included Vince McMahon on commentary: Jose Gonzalez fought Larry Zbyzsko to a draw Robert Fuller defeated Ed Sullivan at 10:39 Tony Garea defeated Mike Conrad at 17:09 Nikolai Volkoff defeated Dean Ho at 5:22 Pedro Morales pinned Mr. Fuji at 10:29 with two bodyslams after Fuji failed a splash off the top Chief Jay Strongbow & Andre the Giant defeated Otto Von Heller & Don Leo Jonathan in a Best 2 out of 3 falls match, 2-0 WWWF World Champion Bruno Sammartino (w/ Arnold Skaaland) fought Killer Kowalski to a no contest at 24:15 when the two men began brawling around the ring after the champion began bleeding from the face; after the bout, Chief Jay Strongbow, Pedro Morales, and another wrestler pulled the two men apart (Bruno Sammartino: Wrestling's Living Legend, The History of the WWE Heavyweight Championship)

carlton st wrote:Cool list Watson was a big name, being a former NWA Heavyweight Champion. I also considered listing either Lord Athol Layton or Lord James Blears. Fritz Von Erich appeared on a few Buffalo/Cleveland promotion cards at the Sunnyside Garden, but that was in 1959, before the WWWF existed. Last edited on Thu Aug 8th, 2013 06:25 am by NJRob65 |

not sure this is in your rules section, but Stan Lane I believe wrestled a match with Tom Prichard in WWF before getting hurt and replaced by Jimmy Del Rey. Maybe that was WCW though, not sure, but it was a "Cornette Invasion" angle
