To echo Papa Voo's point, i'll use an example that pertains to me.

I spent 10 years of my life involved with boxing on pretty much a daily basis. I gained at least a modicum of understanding of the boxing business during that time. Dusty then tried to tell me how the boxing business works...not based on any actual time spent in it, but by stating how his experience as a rassler and a conversation with Ernie Shavers made him privy to a complete understanding of things. (That and a piggyback by RBG, who basically pulled the same shit, but at a junior level) Yet what's ironic is that this is the same guy who tells all who listen that we can't understand the rasslin' biz, cause we weren't there in the ring, and that we just don't get it. But he want's to tell me that this rule doesn't apply when it comes to my sport...that he does get boxing cause he was a rassler? Hypocrisy at its best.

Or he just inherited a girlfriend.  Same difference when you think about it.

tamalie wrote: This ties into my lack of afinity for Dusty and for Ken Timbs. They were essentially jobbers who only got a couple of minor pushes in territories that were very low on the totem pole. Ken later got a big push in Mexico at the dawn of a boom period for the business down there at a point where no American promotion wanted him. Yet in their early days on the various message boards and probably still, they acted as if they had careers that brought them the kind of fame, acclaim, and wealth of people like Steamboat and Michaels. That they dished that and others readily accepted it never sat well with me.
To reiterate what others have said, I absolutely can't see where this is coming from.  I've never had the pleasure of interacting with a more humble and down-to-earth wrestler.  Ken's death is what started the downfall of OSW because the tone of the board slowly changed after that and it slowly but surely turned into the condescending "you weren't there" crap that all the other boards are.  But that never happened while Ken was around.  And Dusty didn't do that at the beginning either.  He always had more of an edge than Ken (not that that's a bad thing) but I never heard him overhype his place in the business.  As years went on he became more combative with posters who were probably intentionally trying to bait him.

Ditto what Rossi said. OSW was never the same after Ken's death.

A few months after Ken died, Bob Moniz went on his what can we do to improve the board rant. Then came Bob's idea of a home page. Bob refused to advertise. Then Juanita got more involved. Bodi became a mod to appease Juanita. I could go on and on. I hated to see OSW die like it did but like others have stated, it was inevitable after Ken died.

Hey anyone know what's up with Dale's book? Any release date set yet or is this thing about as good to go as a Chris Benoit AUTObiography?

Ken Timbs was one of the most genuine human beings I've ever talked to in my life.  He offered to get my stepson into a prestigious wrestling program here in Roswell where his son Nikolai was a coach and he barely knew me.  Like Rossi said, Ken was definitely not the norm for a wrestler.

Tamalie, you're kind of surprising me here.  Do you think that Bill Moody should be treated with more respect because he was better known or in a more prominent position?  Guys like him and Rose are the condescending pricks.  Add others like Mark Nutly (a never was guy to boot) and I'd see your point.  Ken & Dusty are just a couple of southern boys who liked to tell war stories, the way I see it.

Claw, I can't wait until Jade starts a war with you.  She has been fighting a one-way battle with me for years and I have no idea what she's upset about.  It's like a country without nukes trying to hit the US.  I just laugh.

You could always visit OSW and ask him. I'm sure they could use the post.

I always love when people say they "loved Ken" and then they rip Juanita.

Same person more often then you think.

I've heard that from you a few times, but doesn't the class behave better when the teacher is inside the classroom then when he/she leaves?

Based on what people who knew him have said, I will admit to possibly having misjudged Ken. I had no idea that "Ken" was very often Juanita for a long, long time. A lot of my negative feeling towards Ken are probably due to stuff that she said with his username and being unable to tell the difference.
