WWE Hall Of Famer "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff currently has an active GoFundMe campaign to save his house.
The campaign has a goal of $10,000 set, with $5,000 needed by October 1st to pay the current property taxes due, or his house will be sold off. The other $5,000 will go towards medical visits and medication he needs so he can travel again to see fans and make a living.

Featured below is the official description from the campaign:
"After entertaining the world over, "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff sacrificed his mind and body and is now in desperate financial abyss. He is in need of 5 thousand dollars to pay his property taxes or he will lose his house. We need to hit that goal by October 1st. The additional funds will allow him to go to his medical visits and pay for medication. He is unable to travel to visit his fans and sign autographs. Thank you for your donation and the largest donation submitted by 10/1 of at least $500 will receive his "Mr. Wonderful" black and gold robe, if we hit our 10k dollar goal. God bless."

B Brian Blair @Killerbee1B Check it out! http://gf.me/u/k8sy9m  via @gofundme Please help "Mr Wonderful" whom entertained us for so many years! He has beat stage 4 lymph node cancer and is now battling severe CTE. If you can afford $5 or more, it would be greatly appreciated! God Bless U & Yours!

It’s just sad that so many guys wind up in this position. Orndorff made a good-to-great living in the business for so many years, right on through to his years as an agent and Power Plant instructor in WCW. It’s not like he only had 2 years of earnings or anything. He made far more in a shorter period of time than the average American makes in a lifetime.  I’m willing to bet that in ‘86 alone he had 3 or 4 payoffs for individual matches that made him as much as most people make in 3 or 4 years. These guys just need to fucking save! There’s no pension plan and you know it won’t last forever. Pay your fucking taxes and sock half away for after your career and you’ll be more than fine. I wouldn’t give this guy a dime.

I wouldn’t give this guy a dime. For 99% of wrestlers I would agree, but in this case you aren’t being very fair.  Orndorff was one of the good guys, not a drug user, and didn’t piss his money away - he probably had to spend a fortune on his cancer treatments because wrestlers don’t have insurance.  And if you read this clearly instead of glossing your way through it, you’d see that he owes $5000 in house taxes...NOT back taxes.  They are current, and he doesn’t have any money To pay them.  So for you to say “these guys need to save”, realize that he hasn’t wrestled in 23 years and honestly from 1988 on he wasn’t exactly making much money with WCW.  My mom had cancer surgery and if she didn’t have insurance, her bill would’ve been $80,000.  I can’t fault you for not wanting to give him a dime, you have a family to take care of, but it’s totally not fair to lump him in with other wrestlers that whored around and use drugs, etc.  Hes old, hurting, and has CTE...not many ways for him to make money anymore. I wouldn’t be surprised if WWE helped him out on this one.

I didn’t gloss over it and I didn’t suggest he personally hadn’t paid taxes, but many don’t. I’m aware of his medical issues but much of that was paid for by WWE and WCW until probably recently.

I see both sides of it, really.

On one side, there are thousands of people all over the country who struggle with bills and face losing their homes. Why should some quasi-celebrity get help or preferred treatment when Joe Average guy is going to lose it all.

Orndorff ran a bowling alley business in the south for several years, and as far as I know, like Superstar said, never really was known as an abuser of drugs, but none of us really know what happens.

Financial planning is obviously something athletes struggle with. Could he have put more money away? Could he purchased an insurance policy on his own? Hard to say. Dude made a mint in that 1986 run with Hogan before he hurt his arm, but who knows what happened. That was 30 years ago.

Rasslers need financial advice. If you make 100K in a year, live on 40K and invest the difference. Of course, he made considerably more a year for a long time. How does this happen?

If this is a genuine request for help (and I see no reason to believe otherwise), and his fans donate only what they can afford, then I can't see what's wrong with this.

There’s nothing wrong with anyone who chooses to voluntarily give money to anyone. But it’s ridiculous for someone who probably made a few million during his earning years to be begging for money from a fanbase in which the average person probably makes $45,000 a year. But there are plenty of suckers out there.

That’s pretty much how I feel about anyone in any form of entertainment. If it was reversed and I was in bad shape Paul Orndoff wouldn’t give me shit.
