Wow, this sucks. I was never a fan but he will always be remembered in the business for marrying into the Maivia family and fathering The Rock. He had an awesome dropkick. RIP

Great natural athlete, some good stuff with Tony Atlas back in the day. As a person, I really never heard anyone say anything nice about him until The Rock blew up and then people got scared away from calling him out. Sorry to hear this. I know there had been some heat between Dwayne and Rocky because he was such a shitty father. I wondered if that was ever completely reconciled. I hope so. When Rocky first came to the WWF in 1982, I was pretty excited. I had seen him from Los Angeles a couple of times on TV in the early 70's and he was always in the Apter mags. I was very disappointed with his work though. He got a decent push but he just wasn't truly and completely over. I think that's why they never put the IC strap on him.

Probably the most famous wrestler to come out of Nova Scotia. He was from Amherst, which was about 5 miles from where I went to college on the Nova Scotia/New Brunswick border.

I'd go to the Atlantic Grand Prix wrestling shows at the tail end of the season (it would usually shut down in October and open up again in May) So you'd always hear some old guy talking about Rocky and Newt as being from the area.
