Is it worth checking out? I only know about it bc I've seen clips on Youtube. Muraco comes off as a good guy. BUT, I dunno, to me it seems like he's not real likely to say anything to cross anyone.

Yeah, I've been listening to it. The guy hosting it doesn't know as much about that era as the people here on this board, but I enjoy Muraco telling some of the stories.

He's ultra chill and he was one of those guys that had no qualms about taking sabbaticals where so many perspectives out there were either all about making money, or they were perpetual screw-ups. He may have done a bit of both in his career, but I am impressed with how he doesn't shy away from things, and will qualify if he wasn't directly involved in or witness to something. Last year Don was doing another podcast with a guy who seems like he likes being a host with guests around him. This current guy James is different in that he steers the conversation for every one to shine. Everyone has different tastes but I think Don made the right call to switch.

I listened to an episode last week as part of my "fall asleep to" podcast routine. I usually listen to a west coast game on the MLB app or the Zelner/Bix podcast. Muraco's podcast is indeed super chill. He was talking a bit about the AWA on the episode I was listening to. Easy going guy.

I enjoy it. And when Muraco doesn't know something, he comes right out and says it which is refreshing.

For all the intensity and mean demeanor Muraco displayed over his career, seeing him at around age 70 with a very simple lifestyle and willingness to go into some detail is quite the dichotomy, but it is refreshing compared to podcasts with cookie-cutter guests and a mindset of being outrageous just to get clicks. Don and his wife have a very noisy dog who seems to be needy whenever Muraco starts recording and his wife is off running errands. Only then does Don stop smiling and look for a quick flash like the wildman of the past. A big sigh signals that he wishes he was his old self. These visuals make his episodes that much better, a bonus to those who watch the video and not just minimize the screen as they listen.

Wonder if he remembers that promo from '78 that Beej put on the video vault just recently. I know he's probably talked a lot about his time in the WWF and with Eddie Graham, but wonder how much he covered of his time in SF on these podcasts?

He gets new content up on YouTube all the time and then they segment a bunch of it so you can listen to individual topics. Not much about his Shire runs but he has mentioned things about them in the context of telling other stories. Lots of good insight on things as obscure as the lightning bolt on his trunks to jobber ettiquette. Worth a look if you haven't already. https://www.youtube.com/c/DonMuracosMagnificentPodcast/videos

My only suggestion after listening to more episodes is that I wish they could figure out how to regulate the audio a bit. Don will either be away from the mic or whispering, so I turn up the audio, and then he raises his voice or gets closer to the mic. Constantly up and down. Really hard to listen to with headphones.

This right here. I have the exact same problem, really my only issue with this one.

I'm getting more convinced that his previous podcast arrangement was even rockier than originally thought. Last night Mario Mancini retired after 37 years and left his boots in the ring. Lots of people weighed in but Don had some advice for joining the ranks of "exjabronis" of which he includes himself. One notable point he made: 3: but not last - stay away from lying , cheesy cheap , thieving little pricks who say one thing . Use ur alliance - then attempt to soil your reputation when u don’t roll over .Lot of cults out here …It’s a trip , but ur going meet a lot of magnificent people …. and step on a few turds !

Muraco's podcast ended as of today, with host James Romero citing time conflicts with his real job workload and the time difference between Hawaii and England being the main reasons. Romero will still have the material available on the Muraco-specific channel for a few weeks if anyone was interested in downloading it. His main WSI (Wrestling Shoot Interviews) channel will continue with regular Dutch Mantell clips and his other scheduled material. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RO2OZ4XTzbo
