There’s no point in them even continuing like that. Just sell the library to WWE and end it.

There's going to be an AEW streaming service soon. That's where ROH should be.

This news bums me out; While ROH hasn't been great it has been consistently entertaining to me and most of all easily accessible. At this point in my life I can't be bothered to have to commit to an air time or a crap service like B/R now that my son is capable of pushing the buttons.

ROH running like a normal Indy doesn't bother me as it might in fact make it more interesting. I currently find MLW to be entertaining and they seem to be full of freelancers.

MLW signs talent to non-exclusive or first-refusal contracts.  They have a bunch of guys under deals.  And Jacob Fatu in particular is locked up despite a lot of interest from WWE and AEW.

Meltzer says the Briscoe Bros. may have trouble landing contracts in WWE or AEW due to their past “homophobic” remarks. The ship has probably sailed on WWE anyway since they’ve turned them down several times and NXT is no longer a very realistic option given its shift in direction. FTR immediately challenged them as soon as they became available, but AEW might fear online blow-back and not want to touch them. The Briscoes are legitimate multi-millionaires from their farming and construction businesses, and have been pocketing high 6 figure contracts from ROH for years that they claim they’ve never even touched because they live off of their day jobs. They are nearing 40, so they could just walk away from wrestling and just do shows once a month for fun if they get the itch. They will not be desperate for bookings.

They won the GCW tag title a couple of weeks ago, which was their first non-ROH match for something like six years. Given that they look like rejects from a Bumfights DVD, there's zero chance of them ever getting into WWE, let alone their past comments on anything.

They have to headline their December show with Briscoe vs Briscoe in a 60 minute draw, surely. It's the only fitting way to go out.

PWInsider:

A few Ring of Honor notes to clarify some confusion:

CONTRACTS:

*No talents have been released from their contracts yet. Those who have deals running through the end of the year are under contract until that point and will be paid their full salary through 12/31.

*Those with deals running into 2022 will remain under contract until March or April, receiving their full salary until the point they will receive a release.

*All talents who wish to do so have been given permission to go work independent dates immediately if they don't conflict with November's TV tapings and the 12/11 Final Battle PPV. Obviously, every wrestler wants to wrestle, so they are all going to do that to make as much cash as they can. To a person, they all realize they are hitting a crowded open market and are doing what they can to be ahead of the game in the race for bookings.

TAPE LIBRARY:

*I am not sure where this started but Sinclair Broadcast Group purchased the rights to whatever the 2002-2011 ROH tape library contained when they bought the company from Cary Silkin. We have gotten some emails about whether they actually owned the content prior to 2011, but considering they have utilized it many times for compilation DVDs and YouTube, they obviously have the rights. If they didn't, Cary Silkin could have made himself a mint selling it off to WWE or even AEW and that hasn't happened.

*In regard to potential sale of the library, Joe Koff stated in our interview this past Wednesday that there are no conversations and no interest in selling the library. We have heard stories of different discussions in the past, but that doesn't mean it's currently talking place. Of course, things can always change tomorrow, but if we are going to take Koff at his word, there's no current sale discussions right now..

THE FUTURE:

We are told by numerous Ring of Honor talents that on the Zoom call this week, numerous talents called upon Joe Koff to tell them that the promotion was over if it was actually closing. During the call, Koff repeatedly told them that the company would continue on and resume live events in April.

The complete roster is booked for the November TV tapings per usual.

*There had been plans to bring in several GCW talents to wrestle The Briscoes at the TV tapings in Baltimore as a way to extend the storyline where the Briscoes won the GCW Tag Team titles but there is no word whether that is still happening.

*Tickets for the Final Battle PPV, which will be the last event for this incarnation of Ring of Honor, will go on sale for the public on Friday 11/5 at 10 AM EST on Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are already on sale for Honor Club subscribers.

More terrible ROH news as Danhausen has announced that he broke his leg in 2 places. Danhausen has been the best new addition to ROH in the past year, and now obviously will not be able to be a part of the final shows. It was strongly suspected that Danhausen would wind up in AEW sooner rather than later, and he still might, but first he needs to recover.

Jay Lethal is All Elite as just announced on PPV. Lethal vs. Sammy Guevara for the TNT title on Dynamite on Wednesday. Lethal’s AEW theme music is a remix of Randy Savage’s and he did a little Ric Flair impersonation when taking to Tony Schiavone.

Jay Lethal announced post-show last night that he is full-time with AEW and completely done with ROH. He will not be at Final Battle or any other ROH shows going forward. It’s a sad end to Lethal’s ROH career as he had his last match without him or the fans realizing it. Perhaps no one other than Jay Briscoe ever meant as much to that company or had the longevity he had there, and it ended very abruptly with a social media announcement about everyone being released and with no farewell.

Jonathan Gresham announced that he is starting a new promotion called Terminus: Modern Age Grappling, with its debut show set for Jan. 16 in Atlanta.

srossi wrote: I actually just found out that the Briscoe Bros. won the GCW Tag titles from Mance Warner and Matthew Justice this weekend. It was their first non-ROH show in America since 2014, if you want to know how rare that is. So maybe they got a heads up.
Effy and A.J. Gray came to ROH on their penultimate show to challenge the Briscoes for the GCW Tag titles, and lost.  One of the really interesting things about the match was the commentators putting over Jay Briscoe as "a changed man", alluding to his past homophobic comments, while in the ring with Effy, who is openly gay and runs "Effy's Big Gay Brunch" event annually.  They mentioned several times how Effy has earned Jay's respect, without ever coming out and saying what they're trying to say, and Jay almost exclusively worked with Effy while Mark worked with Gray.  After the match, Jay and Effy shook hands and Jay gave him the nod of respect.  Meltzer had mentioned a few weeks ago that the Briscoes might have trouble getting signed after ROH goes under because of those comments, so it looks like ROH and Effy did this match specifically to help him put that behind him and find work.  It's odd that in a match in which Jay is beating Effy half to death with a chair that that's a sign of progressiveness, but wrestling is a strange world.

Effy must have a pretty good reputation in the business because Matt Cardona dropped his Internet belt to Effy about a month ago, and won it back in a return match. He had NEVER defended and lost his own created championship before this.

I had never seen him wrestle before this ROH match this weekend, but he’s one of probably 5 guys that you always hear about from the indies who hasn’t worked for a major promotion yet. I’m sure he’ll wind up in at least MLW if not AEW. A shame his first ROH match is about a month before they shut down.
