I don't know if this counts for both Gresham and Bandido, or just Gresham. I think ROH TV is continuing right now, and these matches will be on the show. He also said that only the World title, women's title and tag title are going to continue, and that the Pure, TV and 6-Man titles are being retired. How in blue hell do you promote a World Championship without any wrestlers under contract? You know how quickly one of their belts is going to get held up by the wrestler in order to secure a better payday from them? Or start showing up on WWF TV with Heenan holding it comparing Ice Cream to Cow Manure? Oh sorry about that...damn flashbacks!

In tonight’s Impact main event, Deonna Purrazzo beat Rok-C to win the ROH Women’s title and defend the AAA Reina de Reinas title. It was easily the best match of Rok-C’s career, but interesting that they took the belt off of her already for an Impact wrestler. After the match, Maria led the ROH invasion faction into the ring to attack Deonna. Her partner Matt Rehwoldt (the former Aiden English) ran in to save her but was beaten down. Willie Mack and Rich Swann then ran in and were also beaten like they were at the Hard to Kill PPV. Earlier in the tonight, the ROH crew took out announcer D-Lo Brown to kick off the show and staged backstage attacks on Eddie Edwards, Rhino, and Heath Slater. The story is that Jonathan Gresham and Rok-C are there representing ROH but the others are “going rogue”.

Rok-C's performance on camera with Mickie James on Impact might be the worst speaking performance I've ever seen in wrestling. She came off like a nervous little girl. No excuse for that because Impact isn't live. Hide her weaknesses! If she couldn't do a good take, just cut it, she's not Vince McMahon. I had zero interest in seeing her wrestle after that, and it's not like she stinks in the ring. That segment didn't even further any storylines. Mind-boggling, unless they were trying to bury her, which I sincerely doubt.

You could do 100 takes and that's what you get.

PWInsider: Ring of Honor has released this past weekend's Women's division documentary episode of their weekly TV series online via their website for free: Behind the scenes look at the ROH Women’s World Title Tournament Watch the latest episode of ROH TV for free here: https://t.co/i2jLIS1sG1 pic.twitter.com/pd2t4t27To — ROH Wrestling (@ringofhonor) January 17, 2022 The episode is one of the all-time best ROH TV episodes since the series came to the Sinclair Broadcast Group, with some incredibly deep and emotional moments featuring Rok-C, Trish Adora and Miranda Alize, among others. The only downside is that the doc was only one ROH episode in length. It is far and away well worth going out of your way to check out.

PWInsider: There are two forthcoming books that will catch the attention of Ring of Honor fans, past and present. Jonathan Snowden, who penned the excellent Ken Shamrock book that was released in May 2020, is teaming with former ROH and current AEW staffer Shane Hagadorn to write a book about the history and legacy of the promotion. They recently signed a deal for the book and are in the early process of working on the project, so it won't be something that is released fairly soon but is coming down the line. Of course, as we reported earlier this month, Ring of Honor Ambassador and former owner Cary Silkin has been working on a memoir about his life in ROH and beyond that is expected to be released within the next year as well. Silkin has been working on that project for a long time.

ROH has announced that when they will return it will be with a HOF. Announcements for the 1st class will begin on Monday. It will be interesting to see if ROH can work with WWE to get anyone to return though. AEW shouldn't be an issue, I wouldn't imagine. I think an easy first class is Samoa Joe (now a free agent), Low-Ki, the Briscoes, and Jay Lethal, but we'll see in what direction they go. Obviously all are available except Lethal, who AEW should have no problem loaning out again for the ceremony.

Everyone from the main event of the Era of Honor Begins should be inducted in the first class. I don't see any problem with having Bryan Danielson and Christopher Daniels there. In a perfect world, the three of them would wrestle again.

I was thinking those two for next year, but I'd be OK with that. The Briscoes and Lethal may be too contemporary for a first class, although based on longevity no one deserves it more. If they just went with Low-Ki, Danielson, and Daniels I doubt anyone would complain, although I would lock up Joe sooner rather than later just in case he becomes unavailable in future years.

There are actually quite a few guys they can go through before even getting to current WWE contracted talent. Someone like Austin Aries, Homicide, I bet Larry Sweeney gets in posthumously, Paul London probably deserves it for his early work. But like any HOF, they can run into the issue of inducting too many minor indy guys or some big names whose greatest success came after ROH, For example, I'd induct Jimmy Jacobs before Tyler Black (Seth Rollins). Yeah, Rollins did briefly hold the title in ROH, but he was never really a top guy or all that important to the company long-term.

Nigel McGuinness definitely. Seth Rollins is a tier below that, and Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Cesaro are probably lower again. And they might let Nigel do it, seeing as he's only a C-show announcer these days. Last edited on Wed Jan 26th, 2022 05:54 pm by Kriss ____________________ “Never argue with an idiot. Nigel definitely, and I'd say Owens and Zayn together as a tag team are a lock too. Cesaro by himself no, but Cesaro and Hero as a team deserve it. A.J. Styles of course. He meant more to TNA than to ROH, but he was a big part of ROH too in the early years. Roderick Strong also should be in, but not right away. He had tremendous longevity and success there, even if he was never a main eventer. He will be free be the time they want to induct him. I'd have to look through the whole WWE roster to see if anyone else comes to mind. At one point not long ago, damn near everyone in WWE came through ROH, but that seems like a lifetime ago.

Carey Silkin appeared on camera on Impact tonight confronting the ROH invasion faction and telling them this is what ROH stands for. The funny thing is he almost never cut a promo in all the years of ROH and is now doing it in Impact.

I can understand why they would want to cut back on the number of titles in ROH. Six is a ridiculous number of championships to have for for the size of their roster the past few years. Cut in half and keep the World HVWT, Tag Team and Pure belts. There are not enough quality females workers out their to justify a women's division. Look at how shallow the talent pool is in WWE, AEW, NWA, and Impact. Keep the Pure Championship. It was the one saving grace that ROH had during the pandemic. It gave the company something unique. Go ahead and unify it with he TV title where you have a TV time limit put under Pure rules. I am over factions littering the wrestling landscape so I won't miss a six man title. The only one that was ever booked right was the World Class version when the Von Erich's and Freebirds fought over it.
