Latest rumor: Pat McAfee vs Vince McMahon at WrestleMania. That'll be something.

It’s been a couple of months now and for the life of me I still can’t figure out if Rollins and Owens are supposed to be faces or heels. I certainly can’t see how Owens is getting ready to face Austin the way he’s been presented.

Agreed, they go back and forth from heel to face about every 3 minutes, and right now they seem to be pretty involved in the tag team scene.

It's like a disease that is everywhere.  Edge comes out and acts like a face, AJ Styles comes out and accepts his challenge acting like a face, and then Edge suddenly jumps him like a heel.  I'm sure WWE will have them switch roles next week, they can't help themselves.

Rollins with his fake laugh should be a heel, but I don't think he's supposed to be. He's awful on the mic, so I want to boo him, but the crowd see to be very mildly into him. Owens is a heel if you like Texas, but a face if you don't. The people of Ohio seem uninterested. Chad Gables's heel gimmick is saying thank you and shoosh in weird way. Just an awful opening segment that even Owens couldn't save. Poor Otis didn't even get one line. I'm booing everyone. Just there to be the butt of a fat joke. And then they had a match even though they a match next week.

Montez Ford then fucked up that match because he jumps so high he can't control the landing of his top rope splash.

The funny thing about Rollins is that he’s kinda almost a decent promo for the first time in his career, until you listen to the worst promo in AEW and realize he’s not even close to that caliber.

Yeah, what happened there?  Did Orton not get close enough to get his foot on the rope?  Watching it live, it looked like Dawkins tried to improvise and act like he was pushing Orton's foot off or something, but the ref didn't sell it and counted to 3 all awkwardly.  Clearly that wasn't the planned finish.

^ that, I assume the finish was Dawkins pushing Orton's foot off the rope and therefore a tainted 3 count. But Orton fucked up because he didn't roll far enough into the corner to get to the rope.

Was there ever a resolution to the Rollins/Reigns thing on Smackdown recently or was that just dropped apropos of nothing? Can't even remember if Rollins was meant to be SD or Raw at that point.

Rollins is on Raw and showed up on SD as a one-off because they have so few stars and needed a challenger for Reigns before the part-timers got their shots at the bigger shows. And then yes, it was just dropped.

Worse than the botched finish (which Graves tried to save by saying Dawkins stopped him from putting his foot on the rope) can everyone from every company stop talking to each other after the pin and wait until you get backstage?  Orton and Ford had like a full on conversation complete with head shaking after the botch that was as clear as day on camera. After good matches everyone is thanking each other and congratulating each other even when they’re supposed to be mortal enemies. It happens constantly in both WWE and AEW now. It’s ridiculous. Out of all of Vince’s silly edicts, how is one of them not to stop this?

Edge randomly turns heel again (as he does every WM season I guess) to face Styles at WM even though a face vs. face match would’ve worked fine between them. In the meantime, I still don’t know if Rollins and Owens are heels or faces. This company doesn’t even try.  And no Cody Rhodes despite more hints.

They have to change this to McAfee vs. Austin Theory with Vince in his corner. They can’t be dumb enough to let Vince even attempt anything physical at this point.

We'll see what happens on McAfee's show on Thursday. This is all about selling tickets to the live event, which is an odd situation for WWE to be in (see also the push for the MSG show the past two weeks on Raw, when was the last time they pushed a house show?) They have to sell it as McMahon vs McAfee. Who could possibly care about seeing Austin Theory wrestle (in the scheme of things, nothing against his talent). I don't think they care about what actually happens on the night, rather than what they can convince people they might see in order to sell tickets. Vince has put himself in a huge spot for Thursday. He has to pull off an angle, make it look like a shoot, live, and outside of the protective bubble of WWE production. McAfee has a vested interest in making this all work, so that will help him, but still, he's gonna need to channel a much younger version of himself.

Are they angling for Owens to fight JBL at Mania? Is this because Austin decided to wisely pass on the match?

Even 10 years ago and this is a match that sells some tickets. Obviously McAfee was still in the NFL but let’s just pretend it’s possible lol. But today, Vince looks like and is an old man, who’s mentally not as sharp as he used to be. Is Vince even capable of pulling this off and making it look good at this point?
