I guess next up is Polynesian Pro Wrestling. I wonder, since Rock produces the show, if they'll go into the story about the guy who tried to run opposition and Lia Maiva sent goons to scare him to death. I guess she eventually told him he could run the show if he paid them ten grand for I guess running his own show opposition, rented their equipment, and booking two or three people she told him to book. Guy went to the cops and wore a wire. Lars Anderson and Maiva went to trial for extortion but were found not guilty. Wonder if Lars Anderson will be on the show.

Since that's a storyline in "Young Rock" (albeit it a very sanitized version I'm sure), I have no doubt that it will be mentioned.

And the Florida episode didn't go into detail about Graham's suicide, just that he ran into money problems and killed himself.

No. They did go into a few stories about his drinking and how he'd been off the drink for years and went out on his boat with Keirn and (I think) Mike and he just started drinking like crazy when he saw them shotgunning cans of beer.

There was some nice footage which I hadn't seen before, of Eddie supporting local community stuff.

I'd love if Tim Hornbaker or someone of that calibre did a book on Eddie and maybe Jerry too.

So Lars Anderson's version of the story is that Lia Maivia was simply asking for a "booking fee" to use some of her talents, which was common business practice, and there was no extortion or attempt to put him out of business.  And NWA President Bob Geigel had to fly into Hawaii to testify to this during the trial and he helped get her off.  Somehow, I think there was more to it than that.

The part of the story I never heard of before, which makes it even more fishy, is that Gordon Solie was making overtures about Florida coming in to encroach on the territory.  And Lars told him that it would be dangerous for him to do so, and Solie took that as a threat and wound up testifying against them too.  But of course that was also a big understanding because Lars just meant that the Samoan population could be dangerous to outsiders, as if Solie of all people was too dumb to know the difference between that and a threat.  Even Kevin Sullivan didn't know how Solie got involved in this trial, and I had no idea about that either.

Next week, Pacific Northwest/Portland. I like that they're doing promotions that weren't really covered by the magazines back then.

So do the wrestlers being interviewed, they can make all kinds of crazy stories up and nobody will know any better to call them on their bullshit.

Yeah there is a lot of bullshit in this show. I did like this week's episode mainly because I knew almost nothing of the wrestling scene in Hawaii.

Is this available to watch, legally, on youtube or a website where you could purchase individual episodes? Dark Side of the Ring was like that for a while and I was able to but the episodes I wanted. Can't find that for this one

Good episode on Portland this week, much of it new to me. Lots of Buddy Rose in this one. Mike Masters is on the panel and died shortly after, which is a shock because he looked like a million bucks still.
