Just read this tonight... Pretty cool they are airing wrestling again. Hope they start with the older wrestling again too....

Georgiann Makropoulos reports that Herb Abrams UWF will start airing on ESPN Classic this Saturday night the 5th from 1-2 am. Some of the stars who could be featured on the shows are Bruno Sammartino, Mick Foley, Bam Bam Bigelow, Lou Albano, Rick Rude, Steve Williams, Bob Backlund, Bob Orton, Don Muraco, Stevie Ray, Louie Spicolli, The Killer Bees and so much more.

Older is okay, unless its the 50's shit they aired for awhile.  Boring, and the same 3 shows in rotation.

How many UWF shows were produced?
Please don't tell me something like 5. If so I'll pass on seeing the same shows aired over and over every month.

Longer than that, they ran on and off for about 4 years.  They did run a lot of repeats, but there's at least 60-70 different hours of the show.

I found this

In 1990, the company signed a deal with national cable network SportsChannel America. A weekly program called "Fury Hour" debuted in September 1990 and ran until 1993.

I would say the last year and a half of that were almost exclusively reruns.

Then they didn't get renewed, and produced another handful of shows which wound up on ESPN2, which led to the infamous Blackjack Brawl PPV.

I'd advise doing that, yeah.  Contrary to what the smarks will tell you, Herbie's UWF was a lot of fun.  His announcing is as bad as everyone says, but the matches arent bad and there were a few guys around there that hadn't been anywhere in a bit that were fun to see.

I hope they show where Larry Zbyszko shows up with the AWA belt.  That's always fun.

What were some of the hotter angles they ran, what were the titles(ie. world and tag any secondary ones) and who was booking it all? This is one outfit I know next to nothing about.

I'd love to get my hands on the complete run of UWF TV. I found Herbs UWF to very entertaining & fun to watch, but then again I also enjoyed the AWF.

I just watched the two 30 minute episodes recorded early this morning.
Quick observations.
Herb Abrams should not have been allowed anywhere near a mic.Worse than David Crockett. However he did own the promotion so........
Bruno Sammartino was the play by play man and unlike others,I always liked him.
The in ring wrestling was pretty good even if most of these guys were past their prime.Ken Patera,Ivan Koloff,Paul Orndorff,Nikiita Koloff and Colonel Debeers wrestled on these shows.
My main issue with these condensed 30 minute episodes is that there are no interviews. These cut episodes literally come from the commercial break and go right to a ring entrance with no interviews so you really cannot get into the action with absolutely no story line.If this continues which I suspect it might,I wont be wasting my time recording them.

Abrams is so much worse than Crockett.  At least Crockett was excited, Abrams just sits there and says "That was something, huh Bruno."  Bruno was an OK color man, not good but OK, but there's no way he can carry a broadcast by himself.  Other than that it's squash matches featuring '80s WWF guys 5 years after people stopped caring about them.  Even the jobbers are past their prime.  How bad has your life gotten when you're Ricky Ataki and the WWF doesn't use you anymore so you start jobbing for the UWF?
