HA HA, That is so true HTF. Tommy looks worse though in a pic over at Slam Wrestling that was taken this weekend with him and Austin Idol. Idol actually looks great compared to most of the "legends" appearing there this weekend.

Back from Fan Fest.  I missed all the Thursday stuff but heard 2 views depending on how big a Flair mark you are it was either good or nothing new.

Got in Friday and while walking around the Vendors room met the illustrious Dr. Delaware.  Nice enough guy who seems to enjoy the heat he gets on message boards.  There was some sort of verbal sparring with Tommy Rich and Tommy Rogers but I only herad about it.  Me ans Steve Johnson picked up Don Fargo from the airport and he was highly entertaining.  Informed us his old tag partner Jim Baggis live sin Charlotte and will be showing up.  Also first time in like 30 years he would see Jackie Fargo.  I did the photo op with the managers, (Humperdink, Cornette, Jimmy Hart and JJ)  Me, Steve and Jim Ryan went to boardwalk Billies for afternoon beers and wings sinc eit looked like the autograpgh line for the Horsemen would go forever.  Not sure how many got thru but Dave uth was 241 and he took a photo thru for me at around 6:30Pm (the Hall of Heros banquet was tos tart at 730)

They started letting you in the banquet at 8:15, I sat with dave Ruth at Don Fargo's table, Jackie Fargo sat next to us with Bobby Fulton.  In the course of the night Ric Falir came by our table to say hello to Fargo, Bob Backlund sat on Fargo's lap   and Fargo seemed to be enjoying the attention.  He's 81 but looks good for that age.  Once the hall of hero's inductions started with jim Cornette Mcing, Fargo moved to Jackie's table and Bobby Fulton got displaced.  The Fargo's were making comments (pretty funny) during the extra long induction of nelson Royal.  They they were inducted by Jerry Jarrett and told lots of tales of getting naked.  They next inducted wahoo McDaniel who's son was to emotional to say much, then Flair told everyone to get a drink as he was going to be long winded in inducting Blackjack Mulligan.  Barry Windham accepte dthe award but was emotional about his dad's condtion and only said thanks.  After the banquet I noticed a guy in at-shirt sitting across from me who everyone was shaking his hand and asked who it was and didn't recognize Tommy Rogers, I went over to say hello and he recognized me (felt bad about that one), me and Steve talked to jerry Jarret after ward, me and Jarrett talked about his old nieghbor Bobby Bare as I am friends with Bare Jr.  Then retired to the bar where it was way too crowded, highlights were Lacey Von Erich with a another hot chick sitting on her lap and the Nasty Boys trying to get up with them.  Eric Watts was with them.  Had a beer with Bruce Mitchell from the Torch and me and Steve had a hotel 2 exits away so we headed out around 1 Pm.  Ole Anderson was holding corurt in the lobby as we left.

Saturday, they had a Memphis Q&A hosted by Scott Bowden with Lance Russell, Dave Brown and Jerry Jarrett.  OK but no crowd questions, Lance told me afterward he knew I was going to ask something (which I told him was to Jerry Jarrett, did you break off from Gulas so you didn't have to push or team for George Gulas any more)  Had a good talk with Scott Bowden and he seemed like a good guy.

The vendors had ton's of guests some with lines (Somoans, Steiners, Lanny Poffo) some without (Bob Orton Sr, Debra, Lex Luger, Sunny)  I talked to Slick in the hall way, nice guy.  I took JJ and Chris Cruise to the airport and had a great talk about indy wrestling.  Got back hung out with Baby Doll for a while watching the huge autograph line and then went and checke dinto the Holiday Inn across the street, Poison was in town and tons of concert goers staying theer beside the Fan Fest over flow and Carolina Panthers tarining camp fans (it was fan fest there as well).  Went to dinner with Pete Lederberg and a bunch of guys from Florida, (Dave and jeff sat with us so talked to them but a few others sat in another booth so no idea who they were.  We choose not to go watch the matches and stayed in the bar.  Joined Howard Baum there.  Ole Anderson was stilling ranting how much he hated Ric Flair, Dennis Condry was there along with Robert Royal and Stacy Cornette.  The Nasty Boys showed up again along with Eric watts.  Dr, Delawares group was there they went to the Poison concert and said the good Dr. drank too much.  the matches let out and it got crowded again.  Steve Corino came by to say hello, Jimmy Jack Funk Jr who works for me wrestled Chick Donavan that show, he brought wahoo's son Zack over to meet me. I tried to leave about midnight but ended up talking to Sir Oliver Humperdink for about an hour outside the hotel.

Sunday was get away day, the vendor room was empty, lots of vendor guests and no lines (Mr Fuji, Eric Watts, Ox Baker, Powers of Pain (ok they had a few), Italian Stallion) Had a long chat with Cornette, had to drop off one of Greg prices staff to the airport and left by 1:15)

Over all a great weekend, They should have made some $$ with the large amout of guys paying $100 for 4 Horseman photo ops.  Not sure how the Vendors paid their guests because I never saw that big of line for most of them.  Jim Duggan was there 2 days with few takers, Nasty boys worked you like Ox Baker.  Bill Alfonzo had no  one, Backlund and danny Hodge had a few. Most if not all the wrestlers were very fan friendly.  Backlund was 360 degrees different tahn what i had heard about him.  he played around with all the old guys (great stuff with him and danny Hodge.

Believe it, but Doc is a great guy in real-life.

Also, Grog, great summary of the weekend.  Do you have anything specific about the Backlund/Hodge stuff?  Of course I'd ask that question.:D

Backlund went up to him and Hodge was happy to see him, they started putting each other in holds for free photo opps.  Backlund went back over to Hodge multiple times throughout Saturday doing this.

Or am I getting confused with Gotch (who he found in Japan and became enthralled with his cardio training)?

Yes, Backlund was "mentored" so to speak by Hodge during his early stay in the Central States/Midsouth or whatever it was then...so I've read.

I hear that Ole is struggling with MS now, making him even more miserable than usual.  How did Ole seem to be doing at the fest?

Ole has a walker to get around.  He did sit in the lobby all weekend and tell stories and bitch.  Its great to listen too but sometimes if you ask a question he will go off on you..  He seems mentally fine but his physical abilities are going.  Abby was a douche from what I saw and heard, refused to talk to his table at the dinner or even pose for the group photos they took.  then walked away and sat with other wrestlers.  He was selling forks at $10 a pop as well on the autpgraph stage (didn't see that but was told that)

My first meeting with Doc and he seemed like an ok guy.  here are a lot of people who go to this that Ric lair and the Horseman do no wrong, walk on water, etc.  They also don't watch the current product and don't want it discussed which is fine.  Some guys are heat magnets and Dr. delaware seems to be one of those guys.  Those who didn't want to hear his comments should be glad they didn't sit next to the Fargo's at the Hall of Hero's banquet.  They talked and made fun of everyone.
