That card at the Sportsplex was in the city of Dartmouth, NS, which is across the harbor from Halifax. Dartmouth almalgamated into the city of Halifax in the 90's though.

Thanks for clearing that up indy. Do you know what year he started and what year he stopped wrestling full time?

AFAIK he started and ended his career in Europe. He was one of those shitty wrestler turned promoters who liked to kill towns. Not sure if it was him or Arpad Weber, one of those two had a 5 day tour of Hungary in 1983 with around 10k in attendance each day. When a group went back around 1991 they had a vastly superior troupe but drew only less than thousand

When i was doing research into Maine for my billy Graham record book...  I think I remember savinga  clipping from Maine that belonged to this territory.  I will have to make a mental note and go looking for it.

Did you ever come across those Maine clippings Ron?
I wonder if it wasn't the Grand Prix promotion out of Quebec rather than the Atlantic Grand Prix promotion run by Emile Dupree, with their office in Shediac, New Brunswick?

Bumping so I can ask a stupid question. There seems to only be results for six or seven months for each year. Was there really no wrestling Jan-APR and NOV/DEC in this region. It received little coverage in most magazines of the day so I'm just wondering what those poor folks did for wrestling during the off months. The workers off course would find places to wrestle.

Wrestling season the Maritimes ran from the Middle of May to Middle of October.   Normally during the winter months, Hockey dominated the area, and the travelling would of been too hazardous as it was all driving.

During the winter seasons we did receive wrestling from other territories, in the 60's and 70's we had wrestling from Quebec with As de la Lutte, or Grand Prix Wrestling from Quebec, also I believe Stampede Wrestling was broadcast on CBC throughout Canada.

In the 80's we got WWF, also AWA and Stampded on TSN.

Thanks for the info.  For any wrestlers who were from the area-local guys- they had second "jobs" in the off months as I assume not all would have been able even to fly in to other territories for an extended stay.

All local stars worked in different territories.

Leo Burke and Kay Brothers wrestled in Stampede, Maple Leaf Wrestling, Mid-Atlantic, KC. Petitpas wrestled in Quebec for International Wrestling as Sheik Ali. Other stars all worked around the horn especially in other territories. What's nice is that our local guys were big names elsewhere.
