That Topicana TV taping had to be brutal for fans. 20 matches and looks like all but two were squashes. I sat through 3 hours of tapings one time at the Milwaukee Auditorium and it wasn't that much fun after a while. Larry Winters had a good look and was talented.

Winters was a huge Zbyszko mark so that would have been his dream match

Crusher is correct about the geneolgy site. I've been using it for years. I also spent many days in Madison doing AWA research. It is the 2nd largest holder of microfilm reels, with library of congress being the lsrgest. Forgive any typos I'm making. I am on my cell posting.

Ron, has anyone asked you about what seems like multi week trips allowing you the time to go.through these microfilm collections? I admire your dedication, and often wonder how and when you plan these trips. Admittedly I know little of what your work status is or anything really... Sorry if this is something you covered before or would prefer not to discuss. If it is the latter, forgive the intrusion.

Ron, I started going back to Madison within the last 2 years after quite a few years away. Years back, you had to sign up for a microfilm machine because there were a lot of days (I only go on Saturdays) when the place was just packed. Now there are some days when there are no more than 4 people at any one time. I've already been kicked out because I stayed past closing since nobody was around. Nothing is more fun to me than going through some microfilm and finding cards that weren't expected. I enjoy it more than the online stuff, but it's a lot more time consuming. No more microfilm copiers in Madison anymore, also.

Crusherbolo---they still have the new machines with copiers in the room next to the microfilm room. I don't much like the new machines though.

@One Fan Gang -- Years ago I worked for myself. Self employed. Different aspects of construction. So creating time was easy. Now I work at a restaurant and catering place. I do all the repairs and maintenance on restaurant equipment and all the work on their trucks and trailers. Plus I go out on catering events also. So now its harder to get 2 weeks off in a row, multiple times a year. Mainly why my long trips (distance) I do during winter months. I am more free to get time off. But I hate travelling in winter months. I would like to finalize my 1985 Mid Atlantic stuff this spring. Finalizing meaning fill in my missing stuff. I have over 750 dates now for the Mid Atlantic in 1985.

@CrusherBolo -- I remember signing up for those machines. I travelled all that distance, and had to wait half a day to use one. I was locating stuff in the Milwaukee papers on them old hand crank ones. ughhh I spent 3 days there my first trip. I am walking in town after using the library, and it was evening. The college students are walking around carrying plastic cups of beer. I was like WTF... I'd been arrested doing that in the eastern states.. So I was attempting to save money, figured I would sleep in my pick up truck. First night was fine. 2nd night about 2 am, the police were beating om my window saying I couldn't sleep in my vehicle in the parking garage. Damit... I was trying to watch my money cause I was leaving there to go to Omaha, Nebraska. I was kicked out of the Library of Congress already, for the same reason. They had closed and im still going at it. lol No microfilm copiers?

@bitterwind -- I hate the newer machines. Takes longer to locate, focus, scan and print, or save to memory disk. I was so faster at the older machines. My record is $57.00 in one day at .25 cents per copy. I was moving that microfilm. It was at the Library of Congress.

Jerry Lawler was champ, he no showed, and they announced he was being stripped of the title?
