I saw the Appleton card on 7/18/86 and it was Steve O by that point. Ryuma Go might have been Mister Zin in World Class or The Super Ninja in Watts UWF by then, if you want to look to verify.

Ryuma Go worked as Super Ninja in the UWF from mid to late April of 1987. I'm having a harder time pinning down when he worked the Mr. Zin gimmick in World Class. It feels like a late summer/early fall of 1986 timeframe that lasted weeks rather than months. My results don't list him at all and the World Class Memories site is history. Does anyone know of any comprehensive databases of World Class results? I haven't found one here yet, but think one may be in the archives.

Thanks for the new address. I'm glad that site is still going. There were no results there or at wrestlingdata with Mr. Zin. He was there and I remember him, but it looks like it increasingly looks like it might have been a one taping and out situation. World Class had a lot of those around August of 1986.

BrettEW wrote: 1/27/89 - Civic Arena - Pittsburgh, PA Was the 1/27/89 card at Pittsburgh Civic Arena or perhaps at another smaller venue? The AWA made an attempt in late 1988 and early 1989 to run big buildings again, but this is a market where they had no history and at the time not even Larry Zbyszko for whatever he'd have been worth in the market.

"Winnipeg Circuit" is interesting. Winnipeg and Brandon are the two larger towns. Aside from that, I suppose they could have hit a super-small town for a spot show in the region, like Kenora, Ontario, or maybe a suburb of Winnipeg itself although that seems like a stretch. There was the possibility for four shows (Feb 2, 3, 4, 5) but Winnipeg and Brandon would have been the main towns.

Can someone explain to me the strange lineage of the AWA Light Heavyweight belt? After Zumhofe was stripped of the title in '86, the records show Mike Graham winning the title in a match that's never been documented. Jimmy Backlund then was recognized as champion, had the physical belt and defended it in FMW but was not recognized but the AWA. I don't recall Graham's 2nd reign as champion ever being mentioned on TV and the belt's Wiki page is incorrect stating he won the title on 12/13/88 (aka SuperClash III). Was Mike ever recognized as champion when he was in Florida for the PWF/FCW? Also by the start of '86 on AWA TV, Zumhofe was being recognized as "former" champion yet histories show he was stripped of the title in June of that year. He wasn't recognized as champion either at WrestleRock in April.

Considering that Graham was awarded the title the first time as a vehicle to have Mike work on AWA cards, having a lineage vaporize and renew itself as the brass saw fit is not surprising. Buck got to extend his championship reign after the AWA folded... Nu-Age Wrestling awarded Zumhofe with light heavy title status in 1991 and announced it was due to his standing as the last champ for the AWA. He promptly dropped it in his first title defense, though.

Did Mike Graham ever claim the AWA Light Heavyweight Title on his Florida promotion's show circa 1988-89? I have no recollection of this at all and news from Florida was sketchy at best. I wouldn't count anything Mike or followers like Jim Backlund did with the title as official, at least within AWA history.
