Working through 1967 results and found this:

May 11, 1967 in Amarillo, North American Champion Dory Funk, Jr. defeated Dr. Bill Miller to win the US Heavyweight Title. The NWA had stated that the loser's title would be abolished. Was Miller's title a gimmick or a real US Heavyweight Title, and if so, which one? As far as I know, Amarillo didn't recognize a US title.

Here's how I have it listed.

5/11/67 Amarillo, TX @ Sports Arena
Title vs Title
North American Champion Dory Funk Jr beat US Champion Bill Miller 1-0 utc
Handicap Match
Dory Funk Sr & Jerry Kozak & Jack Cain beat Dick Steinborn & Thunderbolt Patterson when Kozak pinned Steinborn in the 3rd fall
Alberto Torres & Chief Little Eagle beat The Medics when Torres pinned Medic II in 11:59 after an airplane spin
Medic I beat Chief Little Eagle via pin in 5:59
Note: Bill Miller wasn't the United States champion anywhere at the time of this card. He was just billed as such.
