Is Romo the real deal or will he be one of those guys that always chokes in the clutch? It is early in Romo's career so make the call now so you can say you were right somewhere down the line.

I am not entirely sold on Tony Romo yet.

Back in the glory days, you knew exactly what to you were gonna get with Troy Aikman under center. He would hand the ball to Emmitt all day an maybe toss a couple of TDs without getting in trouble. He was not gonna lose a game for you. With Romo, I just don't get that feeling. Any second, it is possible he is gonna freeze up, or make a bad decision and possibly lose the game for you. He doesn't have Emmitt Smith either.

I think he is a good QB who is very hot right now. If Tom Brady wasn't having an Off -The-Charts season, a lot more people would be talking about Tony Romo.

Tony Romo reminds me of a young Brett Favre. Early in his career, Brett made crucial mistakes that cost The Packers games. He believed he could complete every pass. Romo is that way now.

Brodie,

I agree that Romo reminds me of Favre, not just early in his career but now.   I will say something that is going to upset everyone, but I honestly think that Favre is overrated.  Granted, he won a Superbowl although if you listen to John Madden you would think he has won 10.   I think that was more about defense than Brett.  Madden's man love has built him into a legend.

I give him his due because he is a tough guy and never misses a game.  He is a Hall of Famer but I would not put him in the top ten of all time or anywhere close to that.   He has thrown way too many interceptions that would have cost him his job if he had played in a major media market like New York or Philly.

Romo reminds me of Brett with the inconsistency.  Sometimes he is great, sometimes awful.  I don't see him winning a Super Bowl anytime soon not as long as New England and Indy are so dominant.

I agree 100%.

The next one to fit this mold that will enter the pro ranks likely after next season is Matthew Stafford, QB of the GA Bulldogs.  The guy has a cannon for an arm but makes crazy decisions.

From an Eagles fan ~ Call it dumb Cowboy's luck but Romo is the real deal. The Cowboys are going to the Super Bowl this year and he won't be the reason why they don't win it.

Cowboys just gave him his contract extention, and as a Cowboys fan I'm pretty happy about it.

IRVING, Texas - Apparently, Tony Romo was doing a little more than relaxing in Los Angeles over the weekend.
The Cowboys quarterback must have been doing a little negotiating, too. Or at least his agents were.
As of late Monday afternoon, Romo and the Cowboys are close to agreeing on a six-year, $67.5 million contract extension that will make him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.
The deal is not yet completed, but there have been reports of a press conference Tuesday morning to officially announce the deal.
"We're just in talks right now," Romo said Monday night on The Cowboys Hour, a weekly radio show on the team's flagship station (KTCK-AM 1310). "We're a lot closer than we've been. There definitely looks like there's a bright future. I'm definitely optimistic. It's a great feeling you have when the organization stands behind you and eventually sign a contract and be the starting quarterback for a long time."
Romo, who has 17 career starts, will earn $31 million over the first three years of the contract, which reportedly includes nearly $30 million guaranteed. The proposed contract will pay Romo more than $11 million a season over the life of the deal.
After taking over as the Cowboys' starting quarterback last October, Romo went 6-4 in the final 10 games of 2006, leading the team to the playoffs for the first time since 2003. Romo earned a spot in the Pro Bowl, but came back this year even better.
Through the first seven games, Romo not only has led the Cowboys to an NFC-best 6-1 mark, but leads the NFC with a 95.6 quarterback rating. He also tops the conference in touchdown passes (16) and passing yards (1,984).
While Romo's personal life has drawn national attention for months, the quarterback recently made the news over the weekend, being linked to partying with Britney Spears in Los Angeles. On Monday, Romo said he was simply at the same club as the pop singer.

People who dislike Favre only do so because he hasn't quarterbacked their team for the last quarter centry. If he were on your team instead of the Pack, you'd be all over his jock just as cheeseheads are. He rule, we don't like him, get over it.
