Golden State is a -150 favorite (wager 150 to win 100)

I’m surprised it isn’t -180 or more

Question for the NBA guys here. I stopped paying attention to basketball awhile ago. This is going to probably be an embarrassing question, but someone please bring me up to speed on Golden State. I know they were dominant in 2015-2017+/-. Won a couple of titles? Had a big series with the Cavs in that timeframe. Curry and Thompson. Great team. I felt like I thought they were going through a rebuild now. Weren’t they awful the last few years and perhaps even missed the playoffs? Did they actually not rebuild but just had a couple of down years due to injuries or did they bring in a new group of guys to supplement Curry at the core? I was just totally surprised to see them in the finals this year.

The Golden State Warriors became a mini-dynasty at a time when LeBron James was supposed to lead whatever team he's on into his own dynasty. After back-to-back NBA titles with Miami Heat, they were humiliated by the San Antonio Spurs in a revenge from the Finals the year before. Then LeBron decided to go back to Cleveland, and for the next four years faced the Warriors in the Finals, winning only one in the season the Warriors had an NBA record 73-wins. Then the Warriors got Kevin Durant in free agency and won the next two. The Warriors made the Finals again next season, this time against the Toronto Raptors since LeBron left for LA so the East was wide open. However, the Warriors became injury-riddled by the time they made to the Finals with Durant and Klay Thomason both injured, and the Raptors won the championship.  After which Durant left (on bad terms), and with Thompson still reeling from injuries and most of their key members retired or also left, the Warriors had a couple of "rebuilding" years before making the Finals again this year.

Ok, appreciate that, so almost sounds like it was a “reload” rather than a complete tear-down/rebuild.

Thompson missed the past two and half seasons. Last season the Warriors weren't that bad .38-33 and lost the play-in game with basically just Curry.
This year Andrew Wiggins stepped up, two  19 yr olds (Kuminga and Moody), Jordan Poole, Otto Porter jr, Nemanja Bjelica, and Damien Lee filled out the bench. They have been so good they didn't miss James Wiseman or Andre Iguodala who have been hurt most of the year. Son of Glove (Gary Payton II) tried out as a team videographer at the beginning of the season but ended up  on the team as the top defender off the bench. Kevin Looney has been fantastic in the playoff at center. Tallest guy on team only 6'9"
The Warriors "Death Lineup" of Curry, Thompson, Poole ,Wiggins, and Green will be really hard for Boston to guard.

As much as I'd like to see GS completely obliterated in 4 it's unlikely they lose again at home, at least not back to back.  Celtics have also had the harder row to hoe in the playoffs.

You could make a hefty bet on GS. Nothing over a million though.;)

Jordan Poole fucked up game 1. He should have been pulled earlier. He was playing out of control. Warriors up 9 in second half when Poole came in and started to turn the ball over.
