John Elway.

All those 4th quarter comebacks wouldn't have been possible if he hadn't played like absolute shit the first 3 quarters.

Don't make me dig up Joe Namath's career numbers because it's insane that he is in the Hall Of Fame

Mike Singletary. His defensive line made him a great linebacker.

I agree. Namath has to be one of the most overrated players of all time. He got a spot in the HOF due to Super Bowl III and the guaranteed victory, being in New York, and having a look and charisma that were unlike what had come before him up to that point. If you look at the numbers, he really had a career that didn't come close to justifying his legend.

if he played anywhere but new york,  he would have been considered a middle of the road QB.

Highly overated he did have some GREAT years in an era of run first football.  5 X Pro Bowl/Allstar, 2 X AFL MVP. 1 Super Bowl Ring.  I think the first QB to throw for over 4000 yards. But does 5 seasons and HOF QB make?

Here's the deal. Mike Singletary was a first ballot Hall of Famer and he wasn't even the best defensive player on his own team. Dan Hampton was.

50.1 completion percentage 173 TD passes vs 220 INTs though.

Prior to this season I would've said Kurt Warner was the current most overrated player.

And Sam Huff.

I'll agree on Joe Namath and he's my favorite childhood player.  I was a devoted Jets fan until they traded him to the Rams.  I hated Richard Todd.

I would normally say that Emmitt is the most overrated player ever, but recently watching "Emmitts Gutsiest Game" on the NFL Network (NYG-Dallas, 1/2/94) makes me re-think that. I don't think he's even in the top 10 RB's ever, but he's a hell of a FOOTBALL player. I'd take a guy like that on my team anyday.

Namath has to win this. He's a great college QB who got drafted to the big stage and did well, then lived off it for 7 years before getting ditched.

And this comes from "S&W's resident Bobby Brady" (remember that episode?).:D

Add me to the list, also.

I did not think Dickerson was overrated.  The guy had all the tools.  I know he had a great o-line, also, but I always though of him as a solid RB.
