So Claw mentioned Dusty Baker in the Torre thread.

Can the Reds possibly screw themselves up worse?  Homer Bailey could be a very solid pitcher one day.  Now Dusty Baker's at the reins to use and abuse him.  Scratch that I guess.

I just wonder sometimes how an organization can be so grossly incompetent and still have a soul come to the ballpark.

Before anyone mentions it, yes I know I picked the Reds to do well in '07.  I thought they'd develop into what the Brewers basically did, largely because I thought Bailey would be ready and Saarloos would contribute instead of pancaking his ass to the floor of MLB pitching statistics.  Neither happened.

How does "Big Dust" continue to get jobs?

Teams are "encouraged" to interview & hire black managers.

Who owns them these days?  Is it Carl Lindner still?

Robert Castellini led a group that bought the  team last year.
Lindner is his father-in-law.

I'll have to check out the official site.  Thanks.

I met Carl and his son (I think his name was David or Craig) because I was friends with Carl's granddaughter Beth at college.  I know they have money to burn, but they still took a bunch (like 30) of us out to dinner when we were at college and broke.  Getting one good meal a month is something you don't forget.
Ah, the days of Hamburger helper as a gourmet item........
