My 7 year-old Dell XPS 400 stopped turning on altogether, so it's a power issue. Considering I was running the now unsupported Windows XP and just backed the entire drive up two weeks ago, I can live with it.

I am having a yard sale tomorrow and would like to put it out for maybe $50, letting the person know that it needs a new power supply and hard drive (which I removed).

I need to know, since I can't get this to turn on, if I removed the SATA hard drive in the system, is any of my data anywhere else on the computer or am I good?  I don't want personal and business information to end up in the wrong hands.

Thanks!
Eric

If that was your only harddrive, then yes. You might want to check again if it is a SATA drive and not an old IDE one. I forgot when those were stopped.

It's a SATA. I just watched a Youtube video on locating and removing it and did so already.  So I'm good?

Yes. You are good.

Not related to your data, but I would check the CD drive as well to make sure you did not leave a disc in there. You can get it open with no power by sticking a paper clip or something in the tiny hole that is on the front of the drive. It should open manually by pushing with a little force.
