So this morning, my manager came out @ 11 am and called everyone to the front nursing station...started crying and told us she had given her resignation and would be leaving in two weeks. While all her suck up bitches started crying (knowing they're in deep shit losing their favored status with her departing) I had to excuse myself to pretend to go the the bathroom because I was about to start laughing at the whole thing.

This twat has put a target on my head for the last 2+ years and it ramped up even more so the last few months when she was looking for any possible way to fire me but couldn't for fear of a major reprisal from Joint Commission (governing board for hospitals )that could have fucked up my hospital in a large way.

I had one stupid bitch I work with crying because our manager has allowed her to get out of working her required weekend shifts (every 3rd weekend) constantly, while others were always told they weren't allowed. Another is freaking out because the manager has protected her incompetence for the last year. It'll take a few months before they hire a new permanent one, and we'll most likely get one of the other current unit managers doing double duty till then...which bodes well for me since they're not cunts.

Why don't you apply for the job/opening?

I'd have to go Salary, work 5 days a week minimum vs my 3 days now, and probably make less $$$ since I couldn't pick up OT shifts with critical staffing bonus. I've gone this route before, overseeing a predominantly female staff who are moody as fuck can be left to someone else.

Management ass-kissing cunts now worried because the dirty ass that they love to kiss is leaving. I hope the new manager changes it up on them.

The brown nosers and ass lickers might have to suck it up for awhile(were), but these types always seem to find a way to not only keep their jobs but continue to ass kiss.
Shit floats dontcha know.
Plus if there is OT to be had there are staff shortages. So even no talent ass kissing back stabbers will be kept around.

You stay put Principal! I agree that you don't want to get into that hornet's nest of babysitting all those other nurses.

My daughter just started in the Nursing program at the University of South Carolina. Working her butt off. So far, great results. Yea, the political shit is everywhere. When I had my company, we were small enough (19 employees at our high) to avoid a lot of it. However, that is from my perspective. I am sure some people who worked for me would say there were politics involved. Whenever I hear someone from a firm say they are one big, happy family you know the Dad is talking.

Glad this worked out for you. I have a friend who went through Hell and back with a firm in my area due to an insane boss. It affects every facet of your life.

She was honestly the worst manager I've ever dealt with in any part of my job history going back to High School. She was young enough that she wanted to be friends with the younger nursing staff, instead of being their boss and it played out overtly when it came down to the favoritism. I honestly think she was given a leave or be let go ultimatum, since the new job she's going to is a massive step backwards. I know the Head MD had filed complaints with her selection of charge staff (putting in brand new nurses as charges, leading to a lot of patient errors and potential lawsuits). Plus the Joint Commission complaint brought a lot of scrutiny to how she ran the unit. I'm hoping some of these lackeys follow her across town since I anticipate even during the transition phase to new management will see their priviledges curtailed quite a bit.

You can’t be the boss and a friend. You can be nice and approachable but being a friend will do nothing but harm. Maybe not today or tomorrow but eventually it will catch up.

As an example, one of the younger nurses, who we all knew was a snitch would babysit the manager's kid all the time. She would also sit in her office closed door ratting out all the other staff and because her voice was so loud, we could hear through the door if you had patients in that particular corner. She's the one who will be most affected, and I'm hoping leaves along with her.
