Both feeling a little better today. Father-in-law is supposedly doing very well and they’re hopeful he can be released in a week, but no promises. Still in ICU for now. Mother-in-law still in a regular room and might be released on Tuesday.
That sounds like good news..keep your fam in my prayers

So all of my mother-in-law’s tests are coming back good but today she says she feels worse than ever and can’t get out of bed. In the meantime, they took my father-in-law off of oxygen and are very happy with his progress and think he could be released by Friday. So somehow my father-in-law is now doing better right now, at least as far as how they’re both feeling. The doctors are still a bit more concerned about him though as he’s still in ICU. Covid is a bitch, and the way-to-day is very unpredictable.

What's everyone's take on the origin of the SARS-Cov-2 virus?  A zoological jump from nature to humans?  Or do you think it came out of the Wuhan Institute of Virology?

I've always leaned toward the latter, but more and more it seems almost irrefutable that this was a case of an engineered, "gain of function" virus escaping from a lab that wasn't run with the kind of biosecurity we should demand.  There was recently published a lengthy article by a long-time New York Times science writer that lays out a very convincing case for our current Covid crisis having its origins in the Wuhan lab.  It's a long read and gets fairly technical, but it also illustrates how in the wake the pandemic world governments and their media stenographers have allowed the foxes to write press releases for the chicken coop.

https://science.thewire.in/the-sciences/origins-of-covid-19-who-opened-pandoras-box-at-wuhan-people-or-nature/

Neither the natural emergence nor the lab escape hypothesis can yet be ruled out. There is still no direct evidence for either. So no definitive conclusion can be reached.
That said, the available evidence leans more strongly in one direction than the other. Readers will form their own opinion. But it seems to me that proponents of lab escape can explain all the available facts about SARS2 considerably more easily than can those who favor natural emergence.

What changes if it suddenly becomes accepted that this virus leaked from a CCP lab, funded by U.S. tax dollars, and pimped by Anthony Fauci?  Chernobyl was small potatoes compared to this.  Can the cloud people shed their addiction to Chinese money and call out their paymasters?  Does the sainted Fauci bear scrutiny for such a monumental fuckup?  Does he end his life in the ignominy that he would so richly deserve?  What changes are made, worldwide, to halt these sorts of scientific experiments?

Perhaps not surprisingly, in the wake of the Nicholas Wade article, Rand Paul had some pointed questions today for the odious carbuncle Tony Fauci.  Paul wanted to know about U.S. funding of gain-of-function experiments in Wuhan.  Fauci's answers were, well, very Clintonian, very carefully worded.  When he says that the National Institute of Health didn't fund the Wuhan Institute's work on gain-of-function viruses, he's technically correct.  They used a middle-man, the EcoHealth Alliance, to funnel money to Wuhan, using a loophole in United States law.

So what did Fauci say in response to Paul's questions?  "The NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology."  Later he repeats, "The NIH and the NAID categorically has not funded gain-of-function research to be conducted in the Wuhan Institute of Virology."  And soon after that says, "Again, we have not funded gain-of-function research on this virus in the Wuhan Institute of Virology."

Those are very rehearsed, specific answers that are intended to avoid perjury charges while distracting from the truth that his fingerprints are increasingly apparent on the corpses of so many people worldwide.

Wow, that's a pretty dramatic video.  Fauci stumbling all over himself here, and you have to admit...this thing started in Wuhan before it spread all over the world.  I mean, what are the odds?  It had to have come out of the lab.  Whether intentional or accident, it's despicable that these type of viruses are being created.  What the hell would the end game be for that?

Looks like my father-in-law will be released today. They were surprised at how well he’s recovered. My mother-in-law might have to stay another week.

Labs take viruses and mutate them to the highest level to create the vaccine.  I guess the best  way to describe it is to speed it to the final mutation so a new vaccine isn't required every time it mutates.

Yeah, we know their excuses.  It's just that unleashing a bug that might have killed a couple million people seems like an unreasonable cost for the development of these vaccines.  Compare SARS and MERS, both results of naturally occurring mutations, to this one.  The death tolls weren't even in the same universe.  Heckuva job, Fauci!

Creating Frankenbugs is a highly suspect pursuit to begin with, but to farm out that process to the notoriously corner-cutting Chinese is criminally negligent.

Here in Ohio they are lifting the mask mandate in 2 weeks. The governor has created 2 lotteries, 1 for adults and one for children. If you are an adult and vaxxed, you are entered into a lotto for a 1 million dollar prize, 5 adults can win. If you are child and vaxxed, you are entered into a drawing for a full ride to any state university.

Here in Maryland, the governor says if our vaccination rate gets to 70% then he will do away with the indoor mask mandate. Until then, masks continue to remain required indoors.

Weather has gotten warmer, COVID numbers have improved (here in Maryland, new cases are down, hospitalizations are down, but we still have 20 deaths per day)

Why the improvement: vaccines or warm weather? What say you?

Vaccinations have probably helped but it's very difficult to determine how much.  Seasonality is almost surely the biggest driver of decreasing numbers.  I'm interested to see what happens to sunbelt states like Florida, Arizona, and SoCal in a couple months.  They had a summer rise in cases last year, will they have a bump this summer?  If so, how big?  Given the fact that the virus is endemic at this point, I don't think we'll see anything like last year, but if it's really flat it will be a good sign that next winter will be uneventful in the north.

I saw something interesting yesterday about employers mandating vaccines.  It might not make a difference to many of you, but I work in an industrial setting and we have approximately 500 employees.  OSHA has said that if a workplace mandates the vaccine, any adverse reaction to the shot must be recorded with OSHA.  So if someone here gets the shot and has to spend the day in bed, the plant has now accrued a lost-time accident.  You have to go to your doctor to get checked out?  It's now a recordable accident.  Managers, especially at the corporate level, recoil at any safety incident -- you should see the faggotry sent out by plant safety managers when someone in the division has a recordable accident.  I keep a log of these safety notices for my own enjoyment.  Here are a couple real-life examples:

It saddens me to report that we have had several employees leaving work differently than what they came in to work.  With 3 recordable injuries in 2019, our leadership team has adjusted the ways of working to strive to obtain the zero incident goal.  We will continue to work on this journey to ensure all employees leave work safely

The XYZ team has taken great pride in the fact that we have gone nearly 300 days without incident in the factory and over a year in the maintenance work group.  We have been energized this year with a “Choose You” message from leadership that the team really embraced without coercion.  From operators in all areas to managers in all departments, there is interest in the findings here and lessons we can apply.  This team believes zero is possible and will continue to focus on delivering safe days every day forward.

No one in real life talks like this, but just like the Diversity-Inclusion-Equity racket, management are all true believers in the perfectibility of man.  So you can bet your bottom dollar that they won't want to risk the sin of a recorded accident.  Their moral code (and their year-end bonus) depends on it.

OSHA also said that if there is any threat of negative impact to one's career, then the same standard applies.  IOW, if your employer says the shot is voluntary but you might suffer discipline or lose out on promotions or job mobility, then you've been coerced and once again the employer has to record all adverse reactions.

I know you're trying to make a joke out of that, but the spirit of what he was saying was that people were going in to get tested and coming back with "positives" even thought they weren't sick.  In hindsight, either they were receiving false-positives or were asymptomatic.  The media a year ago was hung up every day on the news posting the "COVID Cases" statistics to seemingly create fear, but the hospitalization numbers always were buried deeper in the news.  The case numbers never told the entire story.  Propaganda for a political agenda.
I'm down-the-middle on the pandemic thing, so this isn't me defending Trump blindly.  I'm all for wearing masks and being careful, and I think the CDC announcement yesterday is a fucking clown show when Wellensky was on the news one month ago literally crying over the variants and how things were going to get worse.  All this changed in four weeks when half the country still isn't vaxed?  No chance.  More politics.
