I'm  feeling nostalgic this morning. You're favorite toys in the 1980's. Just ranking these particular toys, obviously. Listed in random order.

Hot Wheels and/or Matchbox Cars
The Rubik's Cube
Legos
Pro Wrestling action figures
Hustler Magazine

1. ZX Spectrum computer
2. Lego
3. Transformers
4. He-Man action figures
5. Airfix

A big gap between 1 and 2. Even bigger gap between 2 and 3. Had to think hard for number 5.

I specifically asked to just rank the toys on my list. Especially the toys "you liked to played with." (Hustler Magazine cough, cough).

The blue guy's jaw wasn't as reliable as the red guy's jaw. That was part of the 'charm' of it all.

Took me a second look at your question too, to notice it was just the toys you listed that you wanted ranked.

Free speech, my friend.

Had a shit ton of Star Wars figs and vehicles, so that dominated the first half of the decade. #2 probably Hot Wheels and Matchbox. Had the Criss Cross Crash set.

Was slightly too old for He-Man. Missed the GI Joe train, was too old for the new cartoon and too young for the older big figures. Didn't get into Transformers or Gobots. Didn't have a lot of money as a kid and only had some generic knock off legos, not any real sets (I spoil my kids with those now).

Other than that, I was into baseball and football cards and playing baseball and then the 2nd half of the decade was about pro wrestling in my HS years and buying mags and recording shows on my VCR.

Fun fact- my 12 year old can solve the Rubik's Cube now in less than 45 seconds. I can solve it (he taught me the algorithms) in about two minutes. It's all about memorizing like three separate patterns of moves based on what the colors are at the corners.

If he wrote 'rank these toys' there wouldn't have been all this confusion

Also if I stopped drinking from last night there wouldn't be all this confusion.

#1- G.I. Joe. Had an older brother, so most of my toys until 1982 had been hand-me-downs, or else he had kinda' led the way. When G.I. Joe came out in 1982, I was instantly all over it. Loved the toys, loved the comic, tolerated the cartoon. I even bought the knock-offs at K-Mart and other places, like Sgt. Rock and American Defense.

After Christmas, I'd start saving my money, because I knew new GI Joe stuff would hit the shelves, sometime in March. Walking into a store and seeing new stuff, every spring, was like Opening Day to me.

Everything else:
-Star Wars

-Legos (really got into the "Knights" and "Space" lines)

-He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (was the first toy line I grew out of and packed up, in 1984)

-Transformers. But only for about a year or two, when they were new and hot. Found them incredibly frustrating in their availability, price, mobility, and various scales/sizes.

-M.A.S.K. For maybe 6-8 months. Shiny object syndrome and they had a GI Joe-meets-Transformers vibe. I remember spending a lot of my paper route money on them in early 1986.
