One detail of the story that I feel hasn't received enough attention is that the shooter was wearing body armor. The incident most likely would have ended sooner and with far fewer victims as there was an armed security guard ( a retired Bufflao police officer who was killed) at the store who responded and shot the shooter, body armor saved him. There's no right to own body armor and noone beyond law enforcement and the military should have it. Days after the racist killings Tucker Carlson doubles down on replacement theory. He is pushing it as a mentally ill teen who killed strangers not as a racist teen who killed and was after black people. That's because the teen believed what he does. Part of the discussion around "it's a mental health issue" is exactly this, not flagging and treating the nutjobs. Which sounds like exactly what you're talking about too. You need to identify them first before anything else can happen, including taking away their guns if that's your inclination. But we are not identifying them very well. And by the way, your below post about cops and military...I mean really? How many of them are mentally ill? I'm going to say a far greater percentage than the general population. I'll never understand the liberal talking point that they're the only ones who should have access to certain weapons but at the same time they're the ones killing everyone for no reason. It's just bizarre to me. Most people need body armor just to protect themselves from trigger happy cops.
