Oh stop.  Video games and the Internet have nothing to do with it and have been global for decades.  That's dumber than saying just ban guns.

You're right, 100%. I would prefer an America without the guns but to ban them wouldn't fix this (and would start a civil war of some kind).
The problem is beyond guns BUT the laws around gun control, who can buy guns, what kind of guns you can buy, etc. seem ludicrous to the rest of the world (and I think to probably at least half of the USA, though I might be way off on that).
If for some bizarre reason we flipped a switch and made guns legal and as accessible as they are in America I have no doubt we would not see school shootings and other mass shootings like we see from the USA, at least not for a long time. The culture is so different it's almost like a different planet.

It would be a start to wasting loads of money on something that isn't going to make any difference.

You have to remember Jim, this is a country where people go and take their 5 year olds to go and kill animals for fun, then film the kid basically mastubating to the deer they killed.

3D printed guns would make any ban worthless but most people who talk about gun control dont realize that

Even leaving that aside a gun ban would be almost worthless. As mentioned, see Prohibition, War on Drugs etc.

It is incredibly strange to me.
I cannot remember the last time I saw a gun in real life. And when I do it's so unusual it jars me immediately, I'm uneasy.

A different planet to what you describe.

Social media (internet) has fucked up this country  more than guns ever have or ever will..

Well you're not rolling back technology and social media is no different here than any other country.

Social Media has fucked up people. But do you think banning social media (which is practically impossible anyway) would stop mass shootings?

If Sandy Hook didn't change things, this won't either. Americans are a fucked up bunch.
Best post on this thread.

All these other countries have the internet, social media, broken homes, mental illness and all the other exact things that the US has except for the easy access to guns capable of inflicting massive casualties. I do not care that people own guns. I do care that people can easily own guns that are capable of doing this.

This right here. no one is saying get rid of all guns. But no one needs an assault rifle and it should not be easy to get one. If a kid came in wanting to buy one of these would you not wonder why? And he bought two.
