The Vancouver Canucks signed defenceman Yannick Weber and forward Brad Richardson on Friday.

Weber's deal is for one year and $650,000. Richardson's contract is also for one season.

Weber, 24, played the majority of last season in the Swiss League but did skate in six games for the Montreal Canadiens.

In 115 NHL contests - all with Montreal - Weber has five goals and 27 assists.

Richardson, 28, played in 16 games for the Los Angeles Kings last year, with one goal and five assists. The eight-year NHL veteran began his career with the Colorado Avalanche.

The Canucks also signed defencemen Jeremie Blain and Alex Biega on Friday.

The 21-year-old Blain split last season between the AHL's Chicago Wolves and ECHL's Idaho Steelheads.

The 25-year-old Biega spent played last season with the AHL's Rochester Americans, collecting 25 points in 72 regular season games and adding two assists in three playoff games.
