Sam Menacker refused to accept the victory, going as far as to place the following announcement in the July 15 El Paso Herald-Post: “Attention wrestling fans! If refuse to accept the reversal of the decision – Plummer wins! First of all, I have never been in favor of reversed decisions. As far as I’m concerned – the referee’s word is final! Secondly, as your promoter, I wish no favoritism to be shown toward me. Thank you for your tremendous support. I think you understand my reasons for not accepting the victory under a cloud of doubt.”
