But in all seriousness, it’s not listed properly. Should be dated 1978/79 because one of the items they used to photo match the jersey is his Topps/OPC rookie card photo. That photo was taken before the start of the 79/80 season set came out, meaning, at best it was from Spring 1979. Which to me would date it as his original, first ever Oilers jersey from the WHA days, right after he came in from the Indianapolis Racers. Also with this said it makes it even more valuable. Plus, once the Oilers went to the NHL, they used sewed on nameplates. You can see that on his 1980/81 cards. This jersey was basically a blank or previously used 99 that they put a nameplate on very quickly. If I were a betting man, I can see this going north of $500k.
