Plus, once the Oilers went to the NHL, they used sewed on nameplates. You can see that on his 1980/81 cards. This jersey was basically a blank or previously used 99 that they put a nameplate on very quickly. If I were a betting man, I can see this going north of $500k.
I've still got my Gretzky rookie card, purchased as an 8 year old in the fall of 1979.  As for the 80-81 cards, wasn't that the year you had to scratch off the front of the card to reveal the player's team?  Short of the Gobbledy Gooker, that's got to be the worst gimmick ever.
