If the media pounded into everyone’s heads every second of the day that tens of thousands of Americans die of the flu every year, the country would be in a constant state of paralysis. But they don’t, so we don’t notice. Coronavirus is serious but certainly no more serious than the flu. And why the fuck haven’t people been washing their hands and covering their mouths for, oh, say the last 150 years or so since we first realized how people get sick?  Everyone acts like this is breaking news and most seem to be buying soap for the first time ever.
