I think 24 is very much of its time. I did enjoy it back then (20 years ago! Holy Shit!) but the ends-justify-the-means torture scenes (spoiler?) are a complete turn off for me today. The whole split screen thing was pretty cool, though. I remember it became a bit of a thing in the movies for a while. You never see it today, so I guess the majority of viewers don't like it.
