The actual quote, following a puff piece on a hockey player who was sanding drywall with his stick, is, "Gotta get him a show on DIY Network. We’ll call it ‘House Fix with Sticks,’ and Cheryl can play the ditzy, combative interior decorator. I got it all worked out.”

He was clearly making fun of the trope on these home improvement shows, which anyone who has ever watched can immediately relate to.  He never actually insulted whoever the fuck Cheryl is.  For that, he's been off air for 5 weeks and the final terms on a separation are being worked out this week.

This one is just really crazy.  When did "ditz" become the "n" word.  Do we have to cancel every sitcom before 2012, almost all of which featured a ditzy neighbor or co-worker?  Jesus Christ.  The speculation is that the station is just using this as an excuse to get out of his contract, but what a horrible precedent this sets.

I could write a book on this, but both Giangreco and Cheryl have a lot of shit in this closets.

Cheryl is a 60 year old African American bimbo who used to be married to Jim Rose, the OTHER sportscaster at ABC7.  They divorced about 20 years ago.  Rumor had it that (ALLEGEDLY, protecting us here so we don't get sued), Cheryl was banging 19 year old Northwestern football players.

Giangreco  is divorced also.  He's about 70 years old.  Always been kind of a tool, a bit too tan, wears way too much hairspray and makeup, but he's been here in Chicago since the early 80s (actually took Chet Coppock's spot on the old WMAQ Channel 5 before Chet was relegated to radio here and then went to NY about 10 years later to bomb).  Giangreco's the typical mid-life crisis white dude sportscaster.

So, yeah, the quote was innocent.  Total bullshit 2021 cancel culture, but as far as I'm concerned they can go both cancel each other and go away.

The Chicago media scene is awful.  Not sure what NY is like, but we latch onto these complete talentless mopes and they stick around for 40 years.
