Betty White, whose television career spanned more than 80 years, has died, TMZ and People reported. She was 99 years old.
Born Jan. 17, 1922, in Oak Park, Illinois, White is considered to be a trailblazer of television.
Her career was longer than any other female entertainer, having worked in the industry since 1939.
White is famously known for her iconic sitcom roles.
She played the sweet, but salacious, Sue Ann Nivens on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."
White probably is best known for her role of the sweet and naive Rose Nylund on 1980s hit "The Golden Girls."
She was a staple of many popular TV game shows of the 1960s, leading to the title of "First Lady of Game Shows."
White earned eight Emmy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, three American Comedy Awards and one Grammy Award.
She was the first woman to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host for "Just Men!" in 1983.
Off-screen, White was known for her love of animals, working with several organizations whose work focused on animal rights and welfare.
White said her secret to a long life was: "Don’t look ahead and … try not to look back."
