They did realize in the end, and he became "The Ultimate Solution" at the Uncensored PPV. Who were the tag team that were supposed to be from the future? Actually, I think Angel of Death Dave Sheldon would have fit too, as he trained with Sting and Warrior and was in UWF with Sting, although he wouldn't have been a big name to too many fans. They could have maybe stretched a few facts to make Eddie Gilbert or Rick Steiner fit too, but Steiner wouldn't have made sense, IMO. Maybe a faction led by Gilbert including Angel and/or Steiner (though he and his bro were great in face roles at the time) would have worked. But I agree, the angle could have been great and had a ton of potential, but lacked focus. Flair made no sense in the end and just seemed like "same ole same ole"

I know there probably wasn't ever a clear plan for the angle, but based on how the clues really only fit Warrior, I think they thought they were going to be able to sign him since IIRC that was around the time that Warrior started having problems with Vince. Kind of how TNA booked the whole ECW invasion angle assuming Paul Heyman would sign with them.

There were a bunch of awful ones during the Abe "Knuckleball" Schwartz, Thurmon "Sparky" Plugg, Duke "The Dumpster" Drose, T. L. Hopper, Isaac Yankem era.
