What a pussy.  Hookers like Lou Thez would have killed his wife himself.

Wasn't this one overturned?

It wasn't overturned. The girl was 7. Sweetan, real name Robert Carson, did his time in the States and was then deported to his native Canada.

Yikes.

I thought that I had heard that the Girl had admitted later that She had lied about the situation. I think it was on the KM board.

Moondog King / Sailor White served time for various charges,
pimping, assault, B & E, wife beating, uttering death threats, etc.

I remember that as well, from both KM and WC. However, I'm very certain that the claim that the charges were later recanted turned out to be false and that Sweetan was indeed guilty. Sweetan appears to have served nearly his entire 10 year sentence. He's still technically on parole and has not received any sort of pardon or clemency.

Here's his online record.

There's a link out there somewhere from the newspaper account. I believe it happened in Baltimore around 1951.Hmm, I heard Penny Banner later adopted that scam.

Unless we're thinking of a different incident, here's what happened.

In early 1951, Mae and a pair of fellow lady wrestlers were at a casino in Reno and made nice with a gambler there. The guy was on a hot streak and claimed he turned his stake into $1,500 which would be about $12,600 in current dollars. When it was time to go, he said they asked him to join them. He then claimed that once in their car, the ladies assaulted the him, took the dough, and dumped him on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere.

However, the women were all acquitted in the subsequent criminal trial and the civil suit ended up getting dismissed.

Nope, actually something else from my memory of the story. Mae was offering up her dubious sexual favors to some guy (yes, thats right, GUY) and with a male accomplise, rolled the poor sucker and hurt him pretty bad.

Siva Afi's real name is Max Taogaga. He was convicted of one count of aggravated burglary, seven counts of kidnapping, and two counts of aggravated robbery, the crimes taking place in January of 1996. He served as wheel man for three men wo broke into a home in which an illegal bookmaker was believed to reside, looking for his funds. They had the wrong house, but briefly imprisoned the home's occupants and robbed them.

He was sentenced to 15 to 40 years in prison. He appealed on the basis of a lack of evidence, improper representation from his court appointed attorney, the judge erred in sentencing him, and the judge was improperly assigned to his case. He claimed that the judge had agreed to sentence him under new, less ornerous guidelines that were not in place when the crimes were committed, but were in place by the time the case came to trial. The big issue was Afi being sentenced to consecutive rather than the expected concurrent terms.

It gets complicated and there were a number of legal volleys between Afi and the government, but the result was his sentence was vacated and resentencing ordered by an appeals court. I think there were at least half a dozen rulings one way or the other. His new sentence was shorter and he was released from prison in 2007. He went home to Samoa, the former Western Samoa and an independent nation with ties to New Zealand as opposed to American Samoa. It appears he was deported.

I believe their was more than one incident with Mae like the ones mentioned. Also wonder how many unreported incidents happened.

I believe it is documented that Mae was a pro at the "Murphy Game".

The mark is getting ready to have sex, and then the con's partner enters threatening to kill both, and the mark runs off leaving his wallet, and credit cards rather than risk his life, and then of course usually not reporting the two cons.

Better yet start a thread of those who have lived a fairly clean lifestyle other than a few drinking benders, bar fights and the occasional speeding ticket.
