Refs making $5200 a game and want to go to $6000. I had no clue what they made but yeah you gotta pay them well otherwise you get into "fixed games" territory. Anyway Goodell is ready to use refs from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and there's even a female ref in there too.

It's actually $104,000. You forgot the four preseason games. Then there's the playoffs, if you're chosen that would mean even more. Not a bad gig. That's an extra 100K on top of what the refs make from their regular jobs.

Yep not a bad gig at all.  I would do it, I wonder where I can send my resume to become an official to.  Experience isn't an issue, I am sure I can do as good as a job as half the refs, since I am not blind

I'm all for it, so long as you're sandwiched between a linebacker and running back when being out of position.

That's ok, the great benefit package and insurance would pay for it. Lol

Basically, this is over $800 per game. Many of the Refs give up lucrative careers to do this. It just doesn't make sense to put the players at further risk over this type of money. Of all the sports officiating football is the most difficult. So, I have been told anyway.

Many of those other refs have outside jobs though.  That is one thing they always love to bring up, they only do this part time and work another job during the offseason, or so they say.  In fact, that is one of the things they brought up in these talks, the fact its only part time.
