By the time Robocop came around it was well past Gordon's era. He was using "There's certainly no question about that!" every second sentence by that point.

I remember an episode of WCW Saturday Night where Solie, already semi-retired, filled in for Schiavone for some reason.  It was the only time Solie and Heenan ever worked together.  It's a trainwreck of Adamle proportions.

This reminds me of the way Harry Kalas is now as the Phils announcer.   He gets every name wrong, the outs wrong, the count wrong and calls HR's pre-maturely.  Yet, he has a lifetime pass from the fans.

And I'll take that any day of the week over the interchangeable suits who just spout cliches and statistics.  I miss Phil Rizzuto.  :(

I wonder who had the higher blood/alcohol level on that telecast.

Gordon had to put over Mike Graham as a world title contender. I'd think RoboCop would be an easier sell.

If you're unsure about Solie's sobriety (or lack thereof), watch Starrcade '83.

About Starcade '83, I've never satn down and watched the whole event, I've just seen matches of it here and there. My question is does the commercial release(if there was one) have all the matches in their entirety and is CC bradcast of the event pretty common in trading circles? Is the CC copies VQ excellent?

Considering that Eddie Graham was a gigantic lush, it might make sense why Gordon lasted so long in CWF.  Maybe Eddie had a drinking buddy.  Doesn't take away from the talent of either man, however.

There's no commercial release of '83 or '84. The CCTV version is pretty common and not great quality, but generally the 24/7 version is what circulates nowadays. 24/7 aired it pretty much complete (some slight clipping in Valiant's match but everything else was left untouched) and obviously the quality on that version is great.

They actually called the legends match at Slamboree '94 between Terry Funk and Tully Blanchard together too.
