There was a rumor during the early days of wrestling websites that EMP was a road agent for the WWF in the mid 80s, but IIRC Dusty Wolfe or someone else at the OSW board said he wasn't. But it was the mid 80s WWF, who knows. Last edited on Sun Nov 10th, 2013 03:58 pm by sportatorium roach |

Even though well past his prime, there were stories going around that right after the national expansion, Vince was going to bring him to New York for a run against Hogan. Hogan nixed it because he was afraid that Perez would go into business for himself and try and take the title. Can you imagine how history would have been changed if that happened?

I also heard somewhere that after he retired from active ring work, he tried his hand at booking behind the scenes and may have been behind some of WCW's greatest moments.

I saw him on an old Super8 film from the Fort Hesterly armory against Terry Funk, and Dory ran in for the double team. I knew at that point EMP was a really big deal because both Dusty Rhodes AND Eddie Graham came out to run off the Funks.

I've heard that too. As an AWA guy I wish his run would have been longer. The rumor was he stretched a young Greg during a training session and Verne fired him.

After leaving the area I kinda forgot about him. If his talent declined when he entered the AWA... well I am going to have to rely on your word. I remember in the early 1970's when he came to Pittsburgh and then NWF Cleveland/Buffalo him teaming with Victor Rivera and fueding with the Mongols and then The Fargo's. In Pittsburgh he once helped deliver a baby at ringside while still punching Don Fargo in the face Last edited on Mon Nov 11th, 2013 02:10 pm by Count Grog ____________________ Most people don't care if you're telling them the truth or if you're telling them a lie, as long as they're entertained by it. - Tom Waits |

In my alternate WWF wish, Backlund keeps the belt through 1984 and feuds with the stable of Piper, Orndorff, Orton Jr., and EMP. EMP eventually wins the title in late '84 or early '85- I don't think Backlund would have a problem with this considering EMP's wrestling ability- and McMahon goes with a heel champ for a while. But Perez eventually turns face and we see wrestling's all time greatest feud- babyface WWF champ Perez vs. heel Piper. Last edited on Fri Nov 15th, 2013 01:22 am by sportatorium roach |

EMP is overrated. He never worked Memphis. All the greats worked Memphis at least once.

Eduardo Perez wrestled in Gulf Coast as well as Southeastern. I've been trying to find a picture of Eduardo Miguel Perez because I can't picture him unless he's the same guy as Eduardo Perez. Anyone know? Last edited on Fri Nov 15th, 2013 01:02 pm by yellowdog ____________________ "It's a Dog Eat Dog World" |
