Former AWA star Buck Zumhofe was sentenced today to 25 in prison after being convicted on six counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and six counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct earlier today in the Kandiyohi County District Court Minnesota.

Zumhofe, 63, is also expected to be sentenced an additional 6-10 years tomorrow on charges of attempting to escape after being convicted on the sexual charges. With those additional years, Zumhofe will have to serve 25 years in prison before he is even eligible for parole.

Minnesota Extreme Wrestling promoter Curt Otterholt was present at the sentencing and noted that Zumhofe looked as if he had lost a great amount of weight and described his appearance as, "ratty, as if his hair was matted and he hadn't combed his hair." Zumhofe sat quietly shaking his head "no" as the Prosecutor spoke for about 25 minutes prior to the Judge passing Zumhofe's sentence.

The Judge scolded Zumhofe, reminding him that Zumhofe had denied any of this had happened and that him that if and when Zumhofe was released from prison, he would have very harsh supervision to look forward to. He also informed Zumhofe he was fined $200 and would be forced to register as a sexual offender upon his release from prison.

Zumhofe's attorney noted that the former wrestler was concerned that he would be a target in prison due to the nature of the crimes.

Zumhofe was arrested in 2013 and charged with the 12 counts he was convicted for, all perpetrated against a female member of his family, starting when she was 15 years old and living with him. The abuse went on for many years and even more sickening, appears to have been common knowledge among some in the Minnesota independent wrestling scene as Zumhofe was regularly promoting shows under the Rock N' Roll Wrestling banner.

As noted, Zumhofe will be back in court tomorrow to face sentencing on a separate charge of escaping from police custody. As we reported in March, he actually attempted to flee the courtroom in a last second bid for freedom after being convicted. Zumhofe went to use a restroom and from there, attempted to flee.

Zumhofe didn't get far as he was tackled by court officers and immediately arraigned on the "escape from custody."

Zumhofe did not make a statement before the court. Given his age and the length of the sentencing, it's quite possible he will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Well that pretty much kills any hope of WWE ever releasing a "Best of Buck Zumhofe" DVD.

Don't rule out a "Self-Destruction of Rock 'n' Roll Buck Zumhofe" DVD.  Hopefully someone in the IWC has some handheld footage of his escape attempt.

The sentencing of former AWA star Buck Zumhofe for a number of counts of criminal sexual conduct is a major story in Minnesota today as it's been picked up by a number of mainstream media outlets in the State.

Some additional information from the reports add to what we reported last night about the sentencing:

*Zumhofe was sentenced to 310 months (over 25 years) in prison on two first-degree and two third-degree counts of criminal sexual conduct, so there were four counts that he was found guilty of, as opposed to the 12 he was brought up on charges for.

*Assistant County Attorney Aaron Welch asked the judge to double Zumhofe's sentence to 620 months (over 51 years) due to Zumhofe's previous criminal sexual conduct and the conviction the cruelty and multiple forms of sexual contact brought against the victim in his case, a family member. Welch described Zumhofe as having "no remorse" for the crimes, even after admitting they happened during a pre-sentence investigation. The judge declined to do so.

*Zumofe's attorney requested a stay in prison time and probation so he could receive treatment and counseling, something the presiding Judge shot down.

Zumhofe will be back in court today to be sentenced to a charge of escaping custody. While the version that has been stated previously is that Zumhofe attempted to escape while using a restroom, a version published today stated they he broke free of officers in a hallway while being escorted to a conference room to see his attorney - at which point he was tackled and taken into custody. It is expected that Zumhofe will be sentenced to an additional 4-10 years for that crime.

I always thought that guy was a creep, even way back during his AWA glory years. Never cared for him. Even when I was just a young kid I thought that boom box he carried around was ridiculous. I always had that feeling that there was something "off" in regards to him.
How was he received by the AWA crowds during his prime years? Was he ever that "over" during his run?

I wonder what Greg Gagne and Khosrow have to say about this?

Speaking of The Iron Sheik, I saw him make a cameo in a new 'Bud Light' commercial today...Can't remember, but it might have aired during The NFL Draft? Good for him though. Probably got a nice payday out of it?

The trial is over and the fucker has been put away, hopefully for the rest of his life. Regardless, the victim now needs time to heal. A horrible situation. She is a wonderful person and deserves to live a normal life now.

I have my doubts he will last more than a little while in Prison before offing himself.

I'm ok with that.

I got the scummy vibe from him too. I figured he was just some loser trying to be cool. In light of this, apparently his repulsiveness went far deeper than I ever imagined.

If he dies soon, then one less burden on the taxpayers, but given his crimes, it would be better if he became someone's bitch for the duration of his sentence.

Buck is an old man. I think his fellow inmates air leave him alone for someone younger.
