Sting & Lex Luger vs. Road Warriors
Charlotte, NC • July, 1988
Exclusive Commentary Provided by Dusty Rhodes & Larry Zbyszko

Something is off here. The Bash card in Charlotte on 7/2/88 featured Luger and Sting in a Wargames with Dusty, Nikita, and Ellering against Flair, Windham, Tully, Arn, and JJ while the LOD faced Ivan Koloff and the Russian Assassin in a scaffold match. Luger, Sting, and the Road Warriors were all babyfaces at the time and wouldn't have faced off in 1988 until the fall after Hawk and Animal went heel.

I'm glad someone else noticed that. I was thinking that was a real gem for a moment with a rare face vs face tag match from that era.

Warriors were heel at that time and those matches stem from the Warriors turning on Sting and attacking Luger who came out.

If this comment was geared towards me I do remember the Road Warriors turning on Sting during a televised 6-man title match against The Varsity Club. I seem to recall that there were some subtle hints at the turn leading up to that match but my memory might be a bit off there.

I found footage of the Road Warriors turn. I had forgotten that they roughed up Luger a bit after he tried to play hero.
