My wife and I are planning a driving vacation this summer and I need some help/advice.

We are big roller coaster riders and my youngest son is now tall enough to ride everything. We want to make the trip to Cedar Point before I get too old to ride (My knees don't bend like they use to.) So that is the ultimate destination.

Along the way, we will stop in towns/places that look interesting. Pittsburgh is definitely on the list for my wife who is a Steelers fan. We are also looking at the Pro Football HOF and a day in Chicago. My wife and I have already been to Chicago, but my youngest wants to go.

Looking for suggestions for other things to do and see. Touristy things are ok, because honestly, we're tourists and we are not interested in bars or nightlife.

Tentatively we will be traveling through the following states, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, Southern Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Eastern Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

We have already visited Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee, so really looking for suggestions for the northern part of the trip (Pittsburgh and Ohio).

Our very early map takes us through parts of Western Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh), Ohio, Illinois and Indiana. The suggested map takes us on some toll roads. In Texas, you can buy something called the TxTag which lets you travel on most toll roads in Texas without stopping at toll booths. Do toll roads up north have anything like this?

Specifically, on the trip from Pittsburgh to Sandusky, Ohio and then from Sandusky to Chicago there are toll roads.

On your way back from Chicago if you cut through KC you could catch a game at Kaufmann. BBQ at Oklahoma Joes, Strouds. There's Worlds of Fun, a smaller Amusement Park. If you cut through southern Kansas then stop in Pittsburg and you can go to either Chicken Annies or Chicken Mary's.

That would be cool to stop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Pittsburg, Kansas. Thanks for the idea.

Forgot to mention, we do like to try food specific to the region (like KC BBQ, Chicago Pizza, etc) or interesting places to eat like mentioned above. Thanks again.

Try the human slingshot @ Cedar Point. It'll cost you extra. It's the ride where I swore off all amusement parks forever & ever. Amen

No. LOL.

My older son may try it, but not me.

In Pittsburgh go on the Duquesne Incline and stroll around Mt Washington.

Falling Water, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, isn't far outside the city of you're into architecture at all.

Lou Malnattis's pizza is a must in Chicago. That's by far the best and Giordono's is a distant second.

If you're into microbrewery, there's Goose Island and La Guinitas

Thanks. We were kinda looking at the Incline already. Looks cool.

It was really the only thing in Pittsburgh to do.  I think we also did that city's Duck Tour.  But there's not that much going on there.  We hit it on the way to a wedding in East Lansing, Michigan and hit Cleveland (and very, very briefly Detroit) on the way back.

My wife and I ate at Lou's and Pizzeria Uno on our last trip to Chicago. We will try Giordono's or Gino's this time I think. I loved Lou's, she preferred Uno.

The Duck Tour actually looks pretty interesting for us. Quick way to see most everything without driving. Thanks again.

Are you going to Holiday World in Indiana? They have some great coasters. Also, which part of Ky. and Tenn. are you coming through?

We will be going through Nashville and Louisville on I-65. No plans for Holiday World, but that could change.

Fat Heads in Pittsburgh for drinks.

Chicago river cruise was worthwhile. Bob Chins if your wife or you lile crab and arent adverse to dropping a few dollars on a meal.  Have you done the six flags north of Chicago yet?
