How did she manage that?

I wonder if HHH will bury her one last time.

from tmz.com:

WWE legend Chyna -- real name Joanie Laurer -- has died ... and officials are investigating as a possible overdose, TMZ Sports has learned.

We've learned she was in her apartment in Redondo Beach, CA ... south of L.A. -- and police got the call around 7:30 PM. Our law enforcement sources say she had not been seen or heard from for a few days. A friend went to check on her today and found her unresponsive in the bedroom of her home and made the call to police.

Officers are on scene right now. We're told they are investigating as a possible overdose ... due mainly to her history with drugs. Prescription bottles were found in the home.

Cops say there are no signs of foul play.

Chyna was 46-years-old.

A statement was posted to Chyna's official Twitter account confirming the death ... saying, "It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero."

"She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her."

Laurer was discovered Wednesday evening according to ProWrestlingSheet.com.

Chyna was a game changer during her stint with the WWE -- famously teaming up with Triple H to become one of the original members of D-Generation X. She was also the first woman to enter the Royal Rumble.

Chyna went on to pose for Playboy before transitioning to reality TV. She appeared on "The Surreal Life" in 2005.

Later, Chyna got into porn ... releasing 6 films from 2004 to 2013.

She later went to Japan to teach English.

Chyna struggled with addiction for years -- and appeared on "Celebrity Rehab" back in 2008.

She posted a video to her YouTube page earlier this week -- she looked like she was struggling.

Know she became a joke. However she was a important part of HHH's career. DX and the WWE Attitude era.

I think her best work was with HHH/DX (1997-1998) and with Eddie.

RIP

GOODBYE JOANIE
My heart is aching. My eyes are swollen from crying, having just talked to Joan Laurer's manager Anthony Anzaldo on the phone and been told that Chyna, the 9th Wonder of the World was no longer with us; gone at only 45.
I will always be grateful for the friendship I shared with her, but particularly so for the kindness she showed my children, especially Noelle when she was younger - taking her by the hand at WWE events in the late 90's - off to have her makeup done, her fingernails painted; bonding time between big, strong Joanie, and her tiny sidekick. A father doesn't forget that type of kindness.
I didn't know whether to post a classic photo of Chyna in her WWE prime or of Joanie from the last time I saw her - about 10 months ago at a convention on Long Island. I went with the photo from the convention because of the emotion; because it was taken at the exact moment I saw her for the first time in many years. I was told later that Joanie wasn't sure how I would react to her, and that it meant a great deal to be accepted. Like I said, a father doesn't forget. I called home on my way back from the convention – only about 40 minutes from my house. "I'm bringing a friend over to watch the pay-per-view" I said to my wife.
"Who's that?", my wife asked.
"Chyna"
"Chyna?"
"Yeah, Chyna!"
And that was pretty much that. A mother, you see, doesn't forget the kindness shown to her child, either.

I am so glad we had that night with Joanie. A night to let her know how much we cared about her, whether it was politically correct or not. A night to let her know we loved her -and always will. RIP my dear friend. I pray that somehow in death, you can find the peace that eluded you so frequently during the latter years of your remarkable life.

Sort of the elephant in the room, but did anyone feel like Steph intentionally made herself look like Chyna for this year's Mania? From the hair to the makeup, and of course she's bulked up a bit over the years. Psychologically, that scenario has probably always torn at Chyna's heart- she was essentially replaced by a cuter version of herself with more money and power attached to it.

Funny as hell seeing post from fans blaming HHH & Steph for her death. How WWE didn't say her name when she was alive but now that she is dead.

This.  Her porn career and domestic abuse allegations against HHH got her blotted out of WWE history, but people forget what a huge part of DX she was at the time when they were second only to Austin at the height of the Attitude Era.  R.I.P.

No chance.  They will put her picture up on Raw maybe and then never mention her again.  They like to distance themselves from the OD cases, even aside from all the other stuff she did and said while alive.

Mike Johnson's obit on PWInsider.com:

The management of Joanie "Chyna" Laurer, a former WWE Intercontinental and Women's champion, announced about 30 minutes ago that Chyna had passed away at the age of 45, releasing the following statement via her social media accounts:

"It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero. Joanie Laurer aka Chyna, the 9th wonder of the world has passed away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her."

Laurer first trained to get into professional wrestling with WWE Hall of Famer Killer Kowalski in the mid 1990s after competing in a number of fitness competitions.  She had been a member of the Peace Corp. and had toyed with becoming an FBI agent. Shawn Michaels and Triple H discovered her and brought her into WWF as Triple H's bodyguard and she became a founding member of the original incarnation of DX in the late 1990s, the muscular, giant female who glared as she played off the obnoxious antics of the duo.

Chyna would soon be a couple with HHH, on camera and off and she would soon become a star - the first WWE female to be played up as a physical threat to the men.  With her largely muscular frame and her signature jaw, she was a unique and fearsome sight, although she would later have plastic surgery to soften her features.  There is no doubt that she was one of the top stars of the era.  In the Attitude era, the top initial females were Sable and Chyna - one a boxum blonde and the other a powerful dark-haired woman.  They were the yin and the yang to what became the Divas division and each personally led to the beginning of the evolution of what it now the WWE Women's division.

During the Attitude Era, Chyna would become the first woman to compete in the Royal Rumble as well as the first woman to capture the WWF Intercontinental champion, defeating Jeff Jarrett to win the championship.   She feuded with Chris Jericho over the championship and the pair ended up co-champions after both defeated Bob Holly in a Triple Threat bout for the championship.  She feuded with Kane and was a major part of every incarnation of DX through that era.

After a storyline where she was paired with Eddie Guerrero, Chyna became the first WWF Diva to pose for Playboy, a massively successful issue.  She would later pose for the magazine a second time.  She won the WWF Women's championship from Ivory but would later leave the company, while champion, when real life events turned sour as her relationship with Triple H ended and she learned he was now with Stephanie McMahon, who he would later marry.  Chyna would be released from the company shortly thereafter in November 2001, a departure that in many ways, she never seemed to recover from.  She went from being one of the company's most recognizable female performer with a New York Times best-selling autobiography, to being a non-factor for the promotion, largely ignored in their history.

WWE went after her for using the Chyna name, so she would use the moniker "Chyna Doll" and make attempts to legally change her name to Chyna.
Although she would make appearances for New Japan (the first woman to do so, an experience she treasured as she would always praise Antonio Inoki publicly) and TNA, the remainder of her public appearances seemed to be defined by controversy and chaos.  She released an adult film with then boyfriend Sean Waltman, one she would later decry, although Waltman claimed she had signed off on and made money on the film.  She appeared on VH-1's "Surreal Life", a reality series featuring celebrities living together, and it was obvious that she was not of sound mind due to heavy partying during the taping of the series.  This led to appearances on "Celebrity Rehab" on the cable network.  There were multiple hospitalizations and stories of her being allegedly incoherent at events.  She was once thrown out of a nightclub in NYC for ripping off her clothes and diving in a massive fish tank. Appearances on TV and radio shows where she was rambling and going off into wacky tangents with extravagant claims and charges about others.  She was arrested at one point for assaulting Waltman, who years later, would admit he and Laurer were each in a terrible place personally during their relationship.

Eventually, Laurer began making adult films - a decision that would later be pointed to publicly by Triple H as a factor as to why she wasn't a candidate for the WWE Hall of Fame.   He noted during an episode of the Stone Cold Podcast that he wouldn't want his daughters or other children to Google and learn about her adult career if she was inducted into the Hall - comments that led to an upset and angry Chyna attacking him and making accusations that he physically assaulted her while they were together - allegations Triple H immediately went on the record to deny.

For the remainder of her life, Chyna would float around the periphery of Hollywood, making appearances in occasional low-budget films while drawing decent crowds for signings at wrestling conventions, but where she wanted to be was back with WWE, something that obviously wasn't going to happen for a number of reasons - the porn connection, the personal issues and meltdown she suffered in the wake of her breakup with HHH and the self-destructive way she had acted out in the years that followed.  Sean Waltman noted publicly in interviews she was dealing with addiction and mental illness and even just a year ago, called her up on the air during a radio appearance to shoot down claims she was making about himself, Triple H and others.

Over the last year, Chyna had been filming a documentary about her life and her attempt to reconcile with WWE.  She had removed herself from the porn industry and for a time, lived in Japan, where she taught English.  Upon Laurer's return, there were still signs of some odd behavior.  Missed appearances.  Some videos where she seemed to ramble that were posted online.

Attempts to contact WWE, including once showing up and walking into the lobby of their HQ in Stamford, CT to take a photo showing she had "returned" there, went nowhere.  A video her manager posted online where he called WWE asking to speak to Talent Relations about allegedly owed royalties led to him being disconnected when he identified who he was representing.  At Roddy Piper's funeral, Laurer sought out Triple H and spoke to him briefly, apologizing for any trouble she had caused.  Unfortunately for her, those brushes with her past were as close as Laurer would ever come to a WWE return.

Her last public appearance would have been at Wrestlecon in Dallas a few weeks ago, but she no showed the event.  Her last appearance related to wrestling appears to have been a signing and appearance for Maryland Championship Wrestling a few months ago.

Whether the documentary on Chyna, designed to show her return to the United States and return to some form of prominence will ever see the light of day remains to be seen.

On behalf of everyone associated with PWInsider.com, we'd like to express our deepest condolences to Chyna's friends, family and fans.

Joanie Laurer was 45 years old.

One thing that was cool about Chyna was that she was intro'ed as the '9th Wonder Of The World" and of course there are only seven.

Andre was often introed as the 8th wonder of the world so in an odd way, an acknowledgement of Andre, whether that was from her or the WWE, but certainly an intentional tip of the cap to Andre

On a side note convoy is pissed because CBS broke in with the News of Prince death and not Chynas.

Rumor has it that there's been a request for a Chyna-Ray Gunkel sex tape.  I think that's in poor taste though.

Yeah, I hear you on the Chyna-type look.  She really was replaced by Stephanie (at least by HHH) in a lot of ways.  I'm sure it probably bothered her at one time or another.

Anthony Anzaldo, who worked as Chyna's manager and was involved in the documentary on her life at the time of her passing, told The New York Daily News that he was the one who found her body and the documentary was filming as he entered her home. He noted that the film, still intended to be finished and released, may show him entering her home but not him finding her body.

Anzaldo told the Daily News that he found her in her bed with no signs of foul play or even blood or vomit, just what appeared to be Chyna resting. In her bedroom, according to Anzaldo, were prescription pill bottles for Ambien and "one for an anti-anxiety medication similar to Xanax." Anzaldo stated there was no alcohol or illegal drugs.

"My only solace is that she obviously died in her sleep with no pain. She was alive one second and dead the next. It doesn't look like there was a struggle for air," Anzaldo told The News.

Anzaldo also noted he's currently in the process of getting permission from Chyna's family to authorize that her brain be donated for CTE research. Anzaldo stated that Chyna had been contacted to try and bring her into the ongoing lawsuit against WWE over how they allegedly treated talents when it came to brain injuries. While she had no interest in the lawsuit, Anzaldo said that the science behind the CTE discovery interested he and Chyna.

Anzaldo stated Chyna would be cremated with some of her ashes spread in the Pacific Ocean and some in a location where fans can visit them if they wish.

The same article noted that Chyna was set to meet with Vivid Video about doing new adult films before her passing.

Joanie "Chyna" Laurer passed away from an accidental overdose after mixing Ambien and Valium, her manager, Anthony Anzaldo, told The New York Daily News.

“She was inappropriately taking her legally prescribed medication over the course of two to three weeks,” Anzaldo said. “On Sunday night, her body had enough."

While a toxicology report is not expected back for months, Anzaldo stated that he did not believe she had committed suicide andher death was a result of Chyna escalating her usage of the prescribed medication.

Yes, it certainly would be, considering that the copy that exists depicts a 5-year old Chyna.
