MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Wrestling legend Jerry "The King" Lawler is behind bars, accused of domestic assault.

Friday morning, Memphis Police Department put him and his fiancée in jail.

It's a case of he said, she said where both Lawler and his fiancée, Lauryn McBride, ended up as victim and suspect.

McBride, 27, has lived with Lawler, 66, for five years. She said they both got into an argument, and it turned violent.

She said Lawler held her against the kitchen counter, hit her in the head, pushed her against the stove, put a gun on the kitchen counter, and told her to "go ahead and kill yourself."

Lawler told police the argument started when McBride lied about where she'd been.
He said McBride scratched him in the face, threw a candle at him, and kicked him in the groin. He said she was drunk when she told him she knew where the gun was and threatened to kill herself.

Lawler said the reason he held McBride in the kitchen was because she was drunk and trying to leave the house in her car.

Memphis police officers were unable to determine the primary aggressor in the case, so they arrested both McBride and Lawler.

WWE released a statement on its website saying, "WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence, and per our policy, Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest."

No matter how much money you have, when you're in your 60s and you're with a girl in her 20s, you know she's going to "lie about where she's been".  That's inevitable.

But I can totally buy Lawler's story about her being drunk and him just trying to contain her.  The guy never wins in that situation.  She very easily could've been hysterical and shot herself or killed someone in a drunk driving incident if he didn't step in.  One of the many reasons why "zero tolerance" makes zero sense.  We all know the whole thing is going to be thrown out of court, like Adam Rose just basically holding his wife's face and pretty much losing his job over it and then his wife saying in court she couldn't understand why the cops were making a big deal out of it.  People need to stop calling 911 over silly arguments if they don't want anyone to wind up dead/in jail/fired.

99.9 % of the problems in Jerry Lawler's life over the past 25 years (except for the heart attack) have stemmed from his dating younger women.

The rape charges - regardless if he did it or not - probably came about because he was 45 then and preferred 20 year olds.

He walked out on WWF in 2001 because of a younger woman.

Now, he's in jail because of a younger woman.

Knowing both of them, I can see Lawler's story being correct. Lauren does party and has been known to get a little drunk.

Crazy that they are in jail all weekend. Why can't they be bailed out?

On another note, I hope this vacancy opens up a spot for Corey Graves, who's just killing it in NXT.  He told some fans that once the brand split happened, he might get called up anyway, but now it might happen sooner.  Mauro Ranallo and Corey Graves would have the potential to be the best WWE announce team in forever.  Hopefully things go well for Lawler with this case, but he threw in the towel so many years ago, he's now significantly worse than Heenan at the end on Nitro when he would show up drunk and rag on the product or just not say anything for long stretches.  Lawler could've died from that heart attack and still be propped up to do just as good a job as he's doing now.

I don't watch the product much. I thought his heel commentary on Smackdown had changed his style. Not the case?

I want to imagine Lance Russell right there trying to stop the incident. "Now, come on Lauren, would you cut that out?"

I barely recognize that he's trying to be a heel.  He basically just makes fun of Ranallo using big words, talks about how WWE is better than Japan, and shows no knowledge of the product because he admits he rarely watches Raw.  At least when he was on Raw and never watched SD! it wasn't a big deal, but everything happens on Raw so it becomes painful that he never watches the shows he's not on.

Getting back to Lawler's fiancé, its fascinating to look at her Twitter page. Lawler bought her a sportscar for Christmas. She's constantly thanking him for taking her to concerts and dinners. She has a little boy, I assume by a different guy. Jerry is conceivably old enough to be her grandpa by Tennessee standards, but certainly old enough to be her dad by 2015 standards. The son could be his grandchild. Very dirty feel to the entire thing, as cute as she is. But, he is absolutely playing the sugar daddy role to the max.

Jerry Lawler was interviewed from jail this afternoon by WMC-TV in Memphis, TN, discussing the situation that led to his and his fiancee Lauryn McBride's arrest early this morning.

Lawler told WMC-TV that he returned from a wrestling booking last night and his fiancee was drunk when he arrived home.

"When she drinks we get into a little bit of a shouting match and then she wants to leave," Lawler told WMC-TV. "I was not going to let her leave in the car, because she was not in any condition to drive. She got more and more upset."

Memphis police arrested both Lawler and McBride as they were unable to determine who was the aggressor in the situation. Lawler stated that McBride was the one who called 91l.

During the conversation with WMC-TV, Lawler denied McBride's claims that he hit her. He said that McBride retrieved the gun, which Lawler said was unloaded. He denied telling her to kill herself.

"It's just an unfortunate situation. Nobody was hit and nobody was hurt. It's just something that happened as a result of drinking too much," Lawler said. "It's an unfortunate situation as a result of someone drinking too much. I'm saddened by it and hope we can get past this."

Lawler firmly placed the blame on the situation on McBride drinking too much and even stated that the week before, she was involved in a fistfight with members of her family after drinking too much at a gathering.

WWE has suspended Lawler indefinitely until the case is resolved.

No his second. He was busted for reckless endangerment in 1999 for running over some meter maid's foot.

Oh yeah, I remember that one.

Nothing from when he diddled that 14 year old a few years back?

Those charges were dismissed, and that was in Kentucky.
Another fun fact - Jerry's son Brian (Christopher) is almost old enough to be her father.

3 strike law only applies to felonies you're convicted of, so the King will be just fine.

Makes me wonder if WWE is using him as a band-aid because they don't think Lawler was the aggressor.

I wonder if this is WWE's way of pushing Lawler aside.  Lawler's getting older, Vince has been known to replace announcers over the years, and Lawler has been here for the better part of 20 years now.

The Commercial Appeal in Memphis is reporting that domestic assault charges against Jerry Lawler and his fiancee Lauryn McBride, stemming from a June incident where police went to Lawler's home after McBride called 911 and hung up before speaking, have been dropped. Police could not determine the agressor in the incident so both were arrested.

Lawler was then suspended by WWE.

Ted Hansom, Lawler's attorney, said it was "a big misunderstanding and won't happen again. We are happy with the outcome."

The charges will be expunged from their records.
