Stephanie McMahon has announced that in the coming months there will be a major push to integrate LGBT characters and angles into WWE programming. Well this is going to be interesting...Billy and Chuck better be sitting by their phones. Last edited on Thu Aug 11th, 2016 06:48 pm by srossi |

I can't wait to see which Diva is made into the lesbian - unless she is in real life, this will be a total farce that will make the company look even worse than they do. |

I don't see any possible way, in the PG and PC environment they're going for, that they're going to make this work in front of a bunch of wrestling fans determined to shit on anything WWE tries to push in the first place. |

Darren Young is already on Raw, so my guess is this aspect of his life may get more emphasis. |

I seriously hope we aren't treated to yet another tired lame ass stereotype. keep Billy and Chuck at home. If done right this could be only a good thing. I have my doubts they can pull it off right without resorting to stereotypes. |

The story is starting to go mainstream. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2016/08/11/wwe-to-soon-include-lgbt-characters.html The WWE will include LGBT characters going forward, Stephanie McMahon said. Backstage at NBC OUT McMahon said, "Throughout my life I have grown up knowing gay [WWE] superstars and executives. It's always been accepted, but now it's about getting that message out there." The former WWE diva said that the wrestling franchise will “integrate LGBT characters into our programming ... and I do think there will be an opportunity to integrate some of those storylines in the near future.” The WWE has partnered with GLAAD. "We've had GLAAD come in and speak to our entire writing team and give a whole tutorial on sensitivities, the right words, the wrong word [and] why those words matters. I think that with their guidance and support, we will be able to portray that [LGBT storyline] appropriately." The Chief Brand Officer of the WWE spoke about wrestling icon Pat Patterson’s book “Accepted,” which chronicles his experiences being gay in the wrestling world. It was on the WWE Network show “Legends” that Patterson publicly came out. “It was a reality show with a bunch of our legends, and he had such a positive response. It was so warm and supportive that he then decided to tell his story,” McMahon recalled. The WWE did not immediately respond for comment. Last edited on Thu Aug 11th, 2016 10:00 pm by srossi |

When Mickie debuted, wasn't she sort of obsessed with Trish? That's one I'd pay to see. |

Oh, she must be referring to the time when Bischoff brought out two girls, proclaiming "hot lesbian action" or "HLA." Then 3-Minute Warning proceeded to beat the crap out of them. |

So how are you going to be PG when you're doing gay and lesbian story lines. |

Can't wait for videos retroactively plugging Adrian Street and Adonis' progressive angles. Hope they don't scrub the TNT vignette off the network where Adonis makes 100 gay innuendo remarks in one segment with a florist named "Bruce". |

Arnold - I literally watched that segment last night (they aired it on a Prime Time, I think the 7/28/86 episode). |

On Adonis's previous TNT appearance (maybe March or April 1986), he stands up and addresses the rumors by announcing: "yes, I AM GAY"... to a big chorus of boo's from the audience. Jump forward 11 years and Goldust's "coming out" was looked at as a babyface move. Okay, so it was a tease, as Goldust really just "came out" as Dustin Runnels. I think they were trying to capitalize on all the hype of Ellen DeGeneres's "coming out" which was all over the media, at the time. If they get hyper-sensitive, they'll also have to edit out some commentary on matches featuring Brutus Beefcake in 1985 and The Genius in 89-91. |

I was pretty young at the time but it took me a while to get that Beefcake was supposed to be a gay character. Other than the name and the fact that they billed him from San Francisco, there really wasn't anything gay about him at all. And he was teaming up with Greg Valentine of all people. |

I dont remember thinking brutus was gay either. Adrian street n adrian adonis yes. Lots of wrestlers used the efeminate angle a bit- nature boys for sure but outright LGBT angles only seem to have been the adrians from my viewing days. I havent watched wwf/e since the 80s regularly |
