Are they going to win it all? Hard to remember a team this hot.

It looks like its going to be Cleveland and Colorado.

Right now Bud Selig is probably calling the owner of the Indians and asking him how much money it would take for them to take a dive, because no one will watch the WS without Boston in it.

And I think Colorado could take Cleveland right now

I think the World Series ratings would have sucked even if Boston was in it. The ratings have licked ass for FOX all year (and the past couple), and was a big reason why FOX wanted no part of the Division Series' and the NLCS starting this year in the new TV contract.

That and they were tired of interrupting their fall TV schedule for baseball.

I'm hoping for an Indians/Rockies WS that is delayed a week by a snowstorm and has to be moved to Tampa Bay and played in front of 2,000 fans that got in for free, cuz I'm chickenshit like that. :D

Seriously, as long as Boston loses, I'm good.

Since the Cubs were eliminated, I've been rooting for the Tribe. I wouldn't mind the Rockies winning. Imagine the odds on the Rockies you could have gotten at the beginning of the season.

ratings have been going down, and thats why I am sick of the ratings playing a part in the televised aspect of the playoffs.

So what if the Red Sox are not in it, same with the Yankees, I would rather see games that are exciting regardless of who is in the playoffs.

Yankees vs Red Sox means I do not watch, simple as that, and any time they are eliminated, I am happy.

I have been enjoying this years NL playoffs, watching the kids from Colorado win time after time has been fun.

The last time I enjoyed the playoffs like this was in 2005, when the White Sox won it all.

Who gives a damn about the ratings.  I care about the game.

That said, the Rockies may just sweep this whole damn thing.  21 of 22?  Jesus.  I'm an A's fan - I saw their 20 win streak a few years ago.  Haven't seen anything close to it before or since till this.

Some form of "come uppence" here IMO as TV/FOX hypes the Red Sox and the Yankees as the end-all be-all of baseball (beginning in April) and then once both teams are gone they do not have teams left they have regularly featured throughout the season.

Exactly, MLB needs to tell ESPN, and Fox to shut their mouths when it comes to Yankees/Red Sox, because they shove it down our throats and then when it comes time to watch, only the people in those markets give a shit.

I saw a ratings report where the Yankees vs Red Sox were actually down this year on ESPN, compared to last year, could that be a sign that maybe people are sick of it as well?

I love baseball, its my favorite sport, and I love watching it and seeing it live.

Right now I am happy because the Yanks and Chowder heads are out or soon to be out(hopefully), and I might actually get to see more history being made if Cleveland wins the series ending another drought, which would leave only the Cubs to break it.

And you think the ratings were high for the 2004 Red Sox, if the Cubs werre to get into the WS, they would easily break the record for highest ratings for an MLB game every single game, especially if the Cubs win it all.

I think this has as much to do with society as a whole shunning baseball more and more as time goes on.

My opinion? It's an antiquated sport that doesn't fly as well in today's world. Especially on TV. I've gotten to the point where I cannot even watch a full game, I have to be doing other things.

I don't think I watched 9 innings of baseball by myself the whole regular season. The only time I will watch is when I am hanging out with my father, brother or friends and we have it on in the background as we bullshit and drink.

Baseball used the steroid era to rekindle fan interest after the major fuck-up of the lost 1994 season and it's the repercussions that are killing it quicker than it naturally should.
