Alberto , who was scheduled to take part in a tag team main event during tonight's Impact Wrestling vs. Lucha Underground event at Wrestlecon, did not appear as scheduled at the event.  Patron was slated to team with Penta 0M against Austin Aries and Rey Fenix.  Instead, the show was headlined by a three-way bout between the remaining main eventers.

The near sellout crowd in New Orleans did not take kindly to the no-show, chanting "F*** Del Rio."

The word backstage among wrestlers is that Patron no showed, although one Impact source claimed to PWInsider.com that Patron reached out to say he had gotten sick.

Patron appeared earlier in the day as part of a live, streaming press conference with Impact champion Austin Aries to build to their 4/22 Redemption PPV main event.  The conference saw the two get into a scuffle, tossing a table aside in the process.  The scene resulted in Alberto storming out and then getting into a waiting car and speeding off, but that was not leading to any changes in the Impact vs. Lucha event.

More as we confirm it.   A complete report on the event is forthcoming.

Alberto el Patron did not appear today as scheduled for Impact Wrestling at Wrestlecon in New Orleans.

There has been a lot of talk among wrestlers that his status with the company is very much up in the air after he failed to appear at last night's Impact Wrestling vs. Lucha Underground event, but Impact officials have yet to comment on the situation

Impact Wrestling has released former impact Champion Alberto El Patron effective immediately, PWInsider has confirmed.

The release comes on the heels of Patron no showing last night's Lucha Underground vs. Impact Wrestling event in New Orleans.

While one Impact source stated last night that Patron had claimed to be sick, the word around the locker room was that Patron had blown off the show. He had appeared earlier in the day for a press conference that was filmed and streamed live on the internet where he and current impact Champion Austin Aries got into a physical scuffle to build their April 22nd Redemption pay-per-view main event. Obviously that match will not be happening.

One story that has been shared amongst the wrestlers today is that Impact head Ed Nordholm was staying in the same hotel as Patron and attempted to check on him but was unable to do so. PWInsider can also confirm that there was great concern last night about Patron's well-being amongst those in company management to the point that there was talk of calling police to make a wellness check on him.

After missing last night's event, Patron did not appear as scheduled for his autograph signing today at Wrestlecon for Impact.

We are told that an official statement from Impact is forthcoming and may be released as early as tonight.

If only I stumbled over Alberto El Patron passed out on Bourbon Street that would’ve made my trip. I can tell you that there’s no scenario in which he was doing something publicly without everyone knowing about it by now. There was a no-name midget wrestler who got mobbed last night, so no one associated with the business could fly under the radar. He might’ve holed up in his hotel and taken something.

Is Patron this generation's Buddy Landel?  All of the talent and tools, none of the self control.

I still can’t figure out if he made Paige crazy, she made him crazy, or they made each other crazy. But they both seem permanently fucked up now.

Del Rio is from Mexico.  There is no doubt in my mind that Paige isn't the one that introduced him to cocaine.

PWInsider:

Alberto El Patron spoke with the Sporting News [/url]about his MMA company Combate Americas and more.   During the interview, the issues leading to his Impact Wrestling termination were discussed.

On why he missed last Friday's Impact versus Lucha Underground show in New Orleans, Patron stated, "I had a family situation that I needed to attend (to). As you know, my family, my kids are my priority. The situation was involving them and that’s why I decided to take care of business and take care of my family situation. And that’s all that happened. And that comes to what I was just saying to you. I know people wanted to know absolutely everything. This only concerns my family: my parents, my sister, myself and my kids. And that’s the way it’s going to stay."

Impact terminated Patron's contract with the company on 4/8, the day after he failed to appear for the 4/7 Impact vs. Lucha Underground event in New Orleans.  That night, one Impact source stated that Patron had claimed to be sick (which is not what Patron told the Sporting News) and that was why he missed the show, which he was scheduled to main event.

The word around the locker room that night, however, was that Patron had blown off the show.  Patron had appeared earlier in the day for a press conference that was filmed and streamed live on Twitch.  During the conference, he and current impact Champion Austin Aries argued and got into a physical scuffle to build their April 22nd Redemption PPV main event.   That match has since been replaced by Aries vs. Rey Fenix vs. Pentagon Jr.
One story that was been shared amongst the wrestlers in the wake of Patron's no-show is that Impact head Ed Nordholm was staying at the same New Orleans hotel as Patron and  after learning he was sick, Nordholm attempted to check on Patron but was unable to do so.

PWInsider can confirm that there was great concern following the no-show about Patron's well-being amongst those in company management to the point that there was talk of calling police to make a wellness check on him.  PWInsider.com is unable to confirm whether that actually took place.

In speaking to The Sporting News on how he feels regarding the aftermath that came from it, including his departure from Impact, Patron commented,"I’m fine. Of course, it’s difficult because it’s never good to go that way. Our relationship wasn’t pretty good or completely good. And this was just something that ended up breaking it. I’m fine, I guess. I’m going to do what I was planning on doing, as everybody knows I planning on leaving the pro wrestling business in the next year. I have said it several times over and over. And it’s because of some of these things where everybody thinks they can get their nose into your business. Is it right to know absolutely everything about you? It’s not. I’m just going to continue to do that and doing my stuff here, in Mexico like exactly how I was doing it and sometime next year and say goodbye to the pro wrestling business."
Patron, who was the highest paid performer in Impact, had been expected to sign a new deal, as his current deal was set to expire on 4/21.  Patron had been offered a raise as part of his new deal, multiple sources confirm.

Instead, his run ends in controversy as he focuses on MMA and pro wrestling endeavors beyond the company that on 4/7, he claimed was "his company" during the press conference.
