Have any of you deviants seen this masterpiece yet on the new YouTube Red yet? I'm absolutely loving it. I've watched the first two episodes for free but think I'm going to go in for the free month. YouTube Red is using a similar plan to launch the platform that the WWE Network used. Try us free of charge for 30 days and then I think it's $9.99 a month. Might be worth it to cut the ads out of the videos but I digress.

The roles have been subtly reversed by yet they have not. Johnny Lawrence is the perfect anti-hero and makes Cold Stone Steve Austin look like Dory Funk Jr. Johnny is down on his luck and Daniel-san is a highly successful capitalist. The Latino kid who plays Johnny's foil is a brilliant actor and very likable. His crew of nerd buddies in high school are hilarious. The high school heels who pick on them are totally reprehensible. In my opinion the characters that are supposed to be sympathetic are, and the heels are truly heels (watch this show Vince).

I'm not a TV guy and there are virtually no shows I have watched religiously since the Sopranos went off the air. This one has got me hook, line, and sinker though. I want to see Johnny finally get his revenge on that swarmy little dago.

In this show, is Johnny a 17 year old high school student, and is Daniel-san a 43 year old trying to play a high school student?  I want a realistic storyline based on the popular events that transpired in the original.  I would also like to know how Kimiko felt as a 17 year old girl having to do kissing scenes with a then 54 year old Daniel-san, but I fear we will have to wait for the Youtube Red series "Okinawa COWARD!!!!!!!"

This is the beauty of it. It's completely immersed in 2018. Plus, there's a ton of really funny inside jokes pertaining to the original movie. Really funny shit. Johnny is stuck in the 80's to an extent of a guy who peaked in high school but these aren't cartoon characters. Also both Macchio and William look really good for their age.

I went to Wikipedia to find out how old Ralph Macchio and William Zabka are. The former is 56 and looks at least a decade younger. The latter is 52 and also looks younger than his age although not as dramatically. The big shock was learning that Zabka was nominated for an Oscar in 2004 for Best Live Action Short Film as a producer of the short. He also was one of the writers although he did not act in it.

I saw the first episode and i liked it. Zabka is a good actor and i like the continuation of his characters story and it gives him some depth. i think a lot of people have things that happened when they were teens or kids that still bother them or have impacted them as adults.  so far this is way better than any of the bad sequels they did. now if only they could get Elizabeth Shue to make an appearance.;)

The biggest shocker of this sequel is the realization that Ed Asner is still alive.

Saw the first two episodes yesterday, and I totally loved it. How do I get to see the rest of them without subscribing?

Yeah, this is very well written. The role reversal is great. Johnny now lives on the other side of the tracks while Daniel moved on up. As already mentioned, Johnny is truly the ant hero. This might be the only role Zabka ever played where he's likable. He was typecast as a bully heel.

I’m surprised at the good reviews here. I thought the concept was totally ridiculous and embarrassing and I’m so over re-boots and sequels of ‘80s properties. But if it’s actually done well I might have to give it a shot.

Always remember what a douchebag he was as Jack, Audrey’s boyfriend in European Vacation.  Also believe the role reversal works because in 2018, Macchio can very easily come off as an arrogant prick, while the sympathetic babyface role suits Zabka after sensai Creese beat the shit out of him in front of everybody after losing the All Valley in ‘84.  Real life would dictate that Johnny would totally end up down and out because he had all his confidence and dignity choked out of him in front of his boys.
Thanks for fucking me over, WongLee, now I’m gonna end up paying for the rest of these eventually.

The first month is free. Put your CC information in and then cancel after you watch the shows. That's what myself and millions of my fellow Americans are doing. It's the same business platform the the WWE Network uses. Actually YouTube Red isn't half bad because it completely cuts all the ads out.

I just finished the entire first season and there are more heel/face turns and vise versa than you can shake a stick at. The very last scene is absolutely KILLER and makes it very obvious there will be a Season 2.

You won't meet a bigger fan of the KK trilogy than me. I don't acknowledge the existence of the "Girlzzz Power!!" part IV, nor the Jaden Smith remake. I consider part III the greatest part III of any trilogy, mostly due to the greatest heel in cinema, the president of the Dynotox Corporation, Mr. Terry Silver.

If you tell me that Mr. Silver will be part of the new series, I'm in.

This is a very enjoyable read about how the original movie became what it became.

Season 2 is up and they're right back at it with top level Johnny Lawrence goodness. Here I am up at 2:30am because I couldn't stop binge watching the first 6 episodes. Episode 6 reunites all the OG Cobra Kai guys. This shit is just fantastic. I also like how they release the entire season at once. In the YouTube comments people are all salivating for a Season 3. It truly is that good.

I may be a couple years late but I'm completely hooked on this fucking show.  The above clip doesn't spoil the show for people but does show you how a guy like Johnny has zero clue of what's going on today vs the time he grew up.

I binged it before it hit Netflix on YouTube Premium at the beginning of quarantine. I signed up for the trail and then canceled as soon as I was done. This show is just shockingly awesome and one of my favorites.

I just finished watching this today, and I really enjoyed it. The 80s vibe is awesome. It gets a bit tiring to watch when everyone is a heel, though.

I thought it was really odd how much of a douche they made Daniel at the beginning, although he’s not as bad after a while. I don’t mind that both leads are very flawed though. It’s surprising depth considering how cheesy the movies were.

But Billy Zabka seriously should’ve been nominated for a few Emmys for this show, and it’s a shame he hasn’t been. He acts circles around the rest of the cast, but the writing is so strong that everyone is elevated.

It's true. Even the kids are doing nuanced heels and faces. Just incredible. It's obvious though. Can't wait for Ali (with an i) to come in and save the day though. Also, I want Johnny to slam the hot Columbian mommy who hated him and then loved him but now hates him again.

We tore through a good part of Season 3. The quality has not dropped one iota. Some great surprises with Okinawa Jappy girl and the kid who Daniel fought to the death but grew up to look just like Inoki. I thought there was going to be a HUGE face turn but now it doesn't look like it. We have about three or four more episodes to go.

I’m on episode 4 and he just got to Japan. I’m still stunned at how good this show is. This and The Mandalorian are probably the best televised sequels/spin-offs to a movie ever made.

This might be the only show able to get away with something as silly as Dee Snider helping a kid regain the use of his legs.

There were two potential huge face turns and one happened.  You may not have caught up to it yet.  But - SPOILER ALERT !  Don’t read the rest if you don’t want to be spoiled!

I was really hoping Kreese cut off the landlord’s pinky for trying to fuck Tory and became a massive face in the process.  That was the coolest maneuver that Kreese ever did in any of the movies or in this show.  The cigar cutter was the greatest gimmick in the show.  And I love that the writers gave us some Kreese backstory.  I actually have some sympathy for him, even after he fucked me over when I bought in to the whole living in a Veterans shelter and then stealing Cobra Kai from a drunken mourning Johnny in season 2.   I am “Team Eagle Fang” now.  My wife and I have been dropping Eagle Fang jokes for the past day and a half.  Great shit and we are pissed that we now have to wait a year for the next season.

Well Chris Jericho got a shout out in episode 6, so yeah, the writers are definitely wrestling fans, even aside from the obvious face-heel booking.

The soundtrack never ceases to amaze me. Sure they have relatively mainstream stuff like “Kickstart My Heart” by Motley Crue, but I just heard some WASP and it made my night.

I love the show. Billy Zabka who plays Johnny is the best actor in it. He was portrayed as a one dimensional D Bag in the original movie and now he has depth and you care what happens to the guy. I never liked Daniel Larusso even in the original. You were supposed to like him but he had too much attitude to feel sorry for. You don't even get why Ali likes him. Maybe it was macchio's acting that made him  unlikable.

It's great that Elizabeth Shue is back. It wouldn't be complete without her. And she still looks hot.

Anyone else get the quick Terry Silver cameo in the Vietnam flashbacks? Judging by the last scene, seems like we're getting the return of Thomas Ian Griffith next season?

Well the ending of Season 3 was completely underwhelming. The big fight at the LaRusso house was 110% 1970's chop sockey choreography. It was kind of silly. The one fantastic thing in the last episode was they set up what will no doubt be the return of TERRY SILVER!!! I'm also glad Johnny chose Carmen.

I'm a huge fan of the original trilogy but have thus far not watched this show.  However, if Terry fuckin' Silver makes his return, I'm in.  I'm all in.  What this country needs in these dark times are honesty, compassion, and fair play.

Since Elizabeth Shue only came back for that one episode, it made his choice pretty obvious. But putting closure on that love triangle and letting them all move on was an essential piece to the story that had to be told. I thought the final scene with Daniel and Johnny finally combining dojos while “In the Air Tonight” played was the perfect cheeseball finish that every fan of that show loves. The Terry Silver tease now makes me want to watch Season 4 right now. I can’t believe we’ll have to wait another year or more.

The funny part is that it was the kids who were discussing it and they couldn’t possibly remember it. Should’ve thrown in a plug for WWE Network.

The wife and I binged the first two seasons over Christmas weekend and then season 3 when it dropped. Quite possibly my favorite show at the moment.

SPOILERS I guess

I loved the big high school fight, and when both Daniel and Johnny teamed up to take on Kreese after the house fight, was pretty awesome. The only thing I'm not fond of right now is the Hawk face turn. After breaking that kids arm and now they're back to being buddy/buddy? Otherwise, I wish they would drop season 4 like tomorrow.
I wonder how many seasons this will go for?

I have to admit I am not as a big a fan of the teenage stuff. But more the original characters. I like the attention to detail and how they tie up loose ends with past characters like Ali. For instance why her and larusso broke up. In the Karate kid 2 they wrote her character out in a bad way I guess hoping the fans of the first Movie would not miss her. The story they gave did not mesh with how her character was. She was a nice girl and they portrayed her as a shallow person who just dumped him and ruined his car. But now they corrected that.

Count me in as well as not being a fan of the back and forth constant teenage love stories.
Couldn’t stand Larusso in the movies and can’t stand him here either. His wife too.
Johnny Lawrence all the way. Man, I wish he ended up banging Elizabeth Shue.

Couldn’t stand Larusso in the movies and can’t stand him here either. His wife too.

I am against you here - I LOVE Amanda Larusso.  I think her timing, facials, the way she delivers her lines, the overall attitude is phenomenal.  Honestly I think she’s the most grounded, “normal” person in the show.   I loved it when she called them ‘Tango and Cash’ and Johnny quickly let her know “Tango and Cash were narcotics detectives”.  The look on her face while she was listening to it was just like the look so many of us have gotten from our wives when we say something similar - and she was on the phone!

Can you believe Elizabeth Shue is 57? Wow. She looks great.. Johnny is the man in the series. Cool watching him figuring out how facebook works and he reconnects with Ali on there. I would have chosen Ali over his current woman.

I still think the funniest shit was the Glamour shots and the "Sensei...do you have any pics with a shirt on?"
