In terms of the wrestling that you enjoy -- do you like a little 'color'? Should there be blood in wrestling -- and in what capacity. I think timing is everything with this kind of thing , for me , blood should be involved in high-profile matches, end of feuds, steel cage matches, etc

Maybe this should go in unpopular opinions, but I don't think it adds to a match. Maybe when wrestling was mostly seen live or on a small low-def TV, but I have no desire to see Randy Orton's blood dripping onto the mat in glorious HD on a 52" television. In Bret's book, he was always bemoaning that a match "needed" blood when he wasn't allowed to do it. For me, there is no match that gets an "extra star" for the blood. We sometimes talk about things that make you embarrassed to be be a wrestling fan. Where if someone were to walk in on you watching wrestling and ask you what you were watching, you wouldn't have a good answer. I have McMahon vs Undertaker on that list. Right up there with a bra and panties match as something that, for me, I can't defend. Then or now.

I also agree with the above- doesn't add much. But, for some reason I also like Abdullah the Butcher matches, go figure!!

It's necessary in certain matches if not overdone. I don't want to see a Hell in a Cell or elimination chamber match without any blood. The image of the blood dripping down Austin's face when he was in the sharpshooter at WM also helped make that match and the double-turn. You don't need 2 guys bleeding during a meaningless mid-card match, but when done selectively it adds a great deal.

I've got no problem with it. These guys are adults. I would guess that at some point promoters did an unscientific study about the additional box office that was generated by blading and determined that it was worth it. I think it's a good thing in the right time and place.

I’m a fan of it when done at the correct time; gimmick matches that involve steel or tables should have blood, first blood matches should have blood etc.

I think it adds to the match when used in the proper situations- certain matches or feuds benefit from color. For example, WarGames benefited from having color in it. The latter ones that were sterile, always seemed off to me. But it isn't needed in every match, or every show. Used sporadically I think it benefits.

I think it was useful in the kayfabe, territory era. Not so much now when 99.9% of people understand this is entertainment. Blading really helped build feuds and increase the gate in the old days.

now that everyone knows all the secrets to wrestling i dont see the point in even doing it anymore. but back in the day i enjoyed it. as long as its done well. nothing worse then the wrestlers who do it so obviously. Snuka was one of the worst. Hogan wasn't great. some will defend bad bladers by saying that back then you didnt notice when they did it. but......

Gimmick matches should have some sort of blood in it. If you have 2 good workers in the ring, then it ads to the match and doesn't subtract from it. You can use the blood to tell a story.

I'm okay with blading, although it's better suited for house shows. For tv and PPV it often went the other way with wrestlers being punished for any blood. If in a hard fought live broadcast match an impact results in "hardway" blood, it should be accepted as something that can happen in the same way that any other injury can.

I never felt it added to a match. It's just a carny trick to work the marks and to me guys who bled a lot were often those with little to no actual talent; Abby, The Sheik and so on.
