We had a fun time trick-or-treating. The stores mostly weren’t doing it this year, but the neighborhood really came together and for the first time in years all of the residential houses were giving out candy and making sure it was special for the kids. Some of the houses had elaborate chutes to dispense the candy which the kids loved, and some just left trays of candy out if they didn’t want to get too close but no one seemed to be taking advantage and taking too much. My son got 3 times as much candy as usual. Here’s my Baby Shark running towards 2 dinosaurs, a sloth, a werewolf on a motorcycle. He was chasing these dinosaurs all over the neighborhood. You seriously never see shit like this in NYC. It’s usually dead in residential areas. I hope this spirit continues long after Covid is gone. My son was a Ghostbuster again this year, but numbers were down from previous years due to the COVID-Aids. Things started at 5PM and usually go until 8:30, but this year, it was winding down by 7:30. Instead of giving out 50-60 lbs. of candy, folks only gave out around 40lbs.

Happy Halloween! 40 kids came to our door this year on a nice sunny day in Illinois from Noon-6PM which is probably more kids the last 3 years combined. Thanks to Mrs. Wilcox for assembling the bags of candy to hand out. Initially she made 18 the night before and then did the rest when we started running out.

The neighbors directly across the street from me had a small Halloween themed birthday party for their daughter in the front yard where people wore costumes. It lasted a few short hours and ended very early. Aside from that, I didn't notice any other activity on the street. No trick or treaters at all.

Trick or Treating here traditionally is an evening thing, starting around 530 and wrapping up around 8-830.It was about the same here for houses giving out candy as it has been any other year. Numbers have been declining for years but it seems like the number evened out without further decline this year. Weather was better than expected which had to help.

A new record here. 7 kids (We average over 30 most years). By the time kid 3 showed up to the door 35 minutes after the first 2 we were tripling up on the chocolate bars. Living in a Covid hot spot does that I guess.

I love the Muta pic, Beej. We were way down this year. We usually give out between 300-500 pieces of candy, and we only gave out 160. It was nice weather too. Today, it snowed like a motherfucker.
